Just returned from an 11-night stay at AKV Kidani, in a 2-bedroom villa, for our daughter’s wedding. This was our second stay this year, with the first being a split stay between AKV and VGF.
For all the complaining you seem to hear about it, I have to say that not once in the entire stay did, I sit back and think oh my god this place is in horrible need of a refurbishment. Bottom line is that this resort is simply magical.
It was a pretty mad trip with the wedding. We got in on a Tuesday and did a late entry to AK park on Wednesday. They had extended hours that night, so I finally got to see Pandora all lit up at night. When we were out there in Jan/Feb the park closed before it got dark. We had a lot of family out for the wedding, so we were able to help a few who came early or stayed later to take advantage of my wife’s riding planning skills and spend a couple of days in the parks with us.
Added a couple of tours/adventures on this trip doing Behind the Seeds tour (this one was just OK), Wild Africa Trek (just my wife and I and this was a blast) and Keys to the Kingdom (everyone should try to do this once) where we lucked out that our original guide was sick and got a replacement with a history going back to the days of Walt (who she knew as a child).
Despite being completely wiped out from having an early AM wedding rehearsal and an overnighter in preparation for the OMG early morning wedding at the Tree of Life (we had to be on the bus at 3:40AM). Overall, it was a much busier stay than what we would usually do, but definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I’m hoping our next stay (VDH in May) will be a bit more relaxing!
