AKV Kidani Booking Question

I own points for unit 43 and points for unit 9. How do I know when the occupancy date is?

Units 1 - 56 are in Jambo House so both of your units are in Jambo House. The occupancy date for the final phase of Jambo House was Jan 29, 2008 so you are well past your occupancy dates!

I just called our guide and put a deposit down for 160 points at AKV. He said that as of this morning there were some October UY's left, so it looks like we are getting that instead of December.

I asked him what the occupancy date will be on the contract. He said June 2009. Since my UY is October, we will be able to book starting 10/1/08 for (obviously) anything after it opens. Those of you who have June contracts and want to stay at AKV summer of 2009, you should be able to book 11 months out.

I hope I understood everything and am giving correct information.

You don't have to wait until the start of your UY to book. You can book 11/7 months prior to your check out date regardless of your Use Year. Your only restriction is that your trip cannot begin any earlier than the occupancy date of the AKV Unit you purchased. So let's say you want to stay at AKV in July 2009 with a check out date of July 17, 2009. You could book that stay on Aug 17, 2008.

Thanks Lisa. That makes sense. I can book before my use year begins--as long the dates are after the resort opens.

Because our 2008 points could only be used between June 2009 and September 2009, we will most likely be banking.

Found mine on my purchase agreement. Mine is listed as May 1, 2009.

I just made my first reservation using my developer points. We will actually get 2 trips out of those points

Just as long as the reservation would not be prior to the occupancy date of your unit.

They can only use their Kidani points for a reservation date that is after the occupancy date for their unit at Kidani Village.

They purchased AKV. The unit they purchased is located in the Kidani building but it's still AKV and their points are AKV points. They cannot use their AKV points anywhere (not AKV, or SSR, or BWV, etc.) until on/after the occupancy date of the AKV Unit they purchased.

The reason for this is that the DVC system has to stay in balance: the number of points available for use cannot exceed the total point costs of the accommodations that are available for booking. When someone purchases a percentage of an AKV unit with an occupancy date some time in the future, the points they receive that correspond to that ownership percentage cannot be allowed to be used until that particular Unit is available to be occupied. Otherwise it would be like musical chairs with many more points in circulation than there are villas to be booked with those points.
