AKV Kidani Booking Question

We just bought into Kidani last week. I have a question about when we can actually use our 08 points. I know we have to bank them until Kidani opens in hopefully May 09, but what if I want to take a vacation the first of May when would I be able to book that? If Kidani isn't finished by the proposed May date could I still use those points at one of the other DVC resorts. Our APs will expire May 6th and I want to get all of the use out of them that I can. Also, our UY is October I don't know if that has anything to do with booking restrictions.

You can't use your Kidani points until the unit you purchased has been declared open for occupancy.

What about banking the points? We also have Oct UY - and I realize that the banking time is supposed to be May 31. So the points I get this Oct. 08 knowing that I will not be able to use them until after May 09 until my unit is opened. When is the earliest that I can bank them? And then when can I use them? Not until after Oct 09?

I asked a similar question yesterday but I am still confused. Can we make reservations using our Kidani points at our booking window as long as the Kidani is open when the points will actually be used? For instance, we want to use our points from May 31, 2009 - June 10, 2009. We have a June UY so I am going to bank all my 2008 points (except for the points needed for May 31.) I want to book AKV (day by day) starting July 1st this year. I can do this right?

It's in the contract you signed with DVC.

You can make a reservation for a date on or after the occupancy date of your DVC unit at Kidani Village.

As Mike said, you can book 11 months prior to your check out date at your home resort or 7 months prior to check out at non-home resorts. The only wrinkle is that your stay cannot begin any earlier than the occupancy date of the unit you purchased but you can still book that stay 11/7 months prior to check out.

So for the OP: If you have a May 1, 2009 occupancy date and want to go to WDW from May 1 - May 6, 2009, you could book that stay on June 6, 2008 if booking at AKV or Oct 6, 2008 if you wanted to book somewhere other than AKV.

You can bank your Oct 2008 points anytime between Oct 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009.

Your Oct 2008 points are valid for stays from 10/1/2008 - 9/30/2009. Once you bank them, they become valid for stays from 10/1/2009 - 9/30/2010.

Location of your unit within AKV doesn't matter. Collectively, Jambo House and Kindani Village are AKV.

What is the occupancy date associated with those new points? If it's May 1, 2009 then you cannot use them for a stay in April 2009.

I own points for unit 43 and points for unit 9. How do I know when the occupancy date is?

I just called our guide and put a deposit down for 160 points at AKV. He said that as of this morning there were some October UY's left, so it looks like we are getting that instead of December.

I asked him what the occupancy date will be on the contract. He said June 2009. Since my UY is October, we will be able to book starting 10/1/08 for (obviously) anything after it opens. Those of you who have June contracts and want to stay at AKV summer of 2009, you should be able to book 11 months out.

I hope I understood everything and am giving correct information.

Your occupancy date will be on the important paperwork you got when you signed for DVC.

I can't seem to locate my first contract. Our second contract (add on points)
approx. date of occupancy is jan 2008. Is it safe to say our first contract would be before this date? Just want to be sure. Thanks again
