AKV Kidani 2BR - any luck in requesting dedicated v. lock-out?

Almost a year until we go, but day by day, I'm adding to our Kidani reservation, and I'm just wondering what kind of luck people have had in requesting a dedicated 2BR v. a lock-out.

We have five, so someone is going to have to sleep on a pull-out anyway, but I would prefer to keep it to just one person, rather than two.

TIA!

Did you book with cash or DVC points? If with DVC points, you will get the lock-off unless your room was taken out of service for maintenance. DVC has guaranteed booking categories. If you were given a dedicated 2 bedroom, another family that originally reserved that villa would have to be given your 2 bedroom lock-off. If it is a cash reservation, you might have more flexibility if there were a dedicated 2 bedroom available when you checked in.

When I booked my 2br I was given dedicated without requesting.

You have plenty of room with 5 people. Even if 1 person is in the Master bedroom and 1 in the lockoff, there is the pullout sofa and pullout chair in the living room.

What is a dedicated and what's a lockout?

A dedicated is a two bedroom villa. A lockout is a one bedroom villa and a studio with connecting doors. That means that it has 2 separate entrances and the studio portion will have a kitchenette and a queen bed with sleeper sofa vs a regular bedroom with 2 beds.

As to the OP, I'm a DVC owner and I've had both. In each case, I made the request (once for dedicated, once for lockout).

This isn't a request, it's a specific booking category. If they have the one you want when you're booking, you are booking that and should expect to receive it.

Lock-off (vs "out") is what I've always seen, by the way.

I agree, it's a booking category. They have to keep track of how many lockoffs they have split into separate 1 bedroom and studio reservations and how many are reserved as 2 bedrooms. If you book through CRO, they don't show it but they have it in their system one way or the other. Typically dedicated is booked first.

Cash (gift card).

Yes, there will be enough room either way, but I would prefer that only one person have to sleep on a pullout instead of two.

It doesn't differentiate on the Disney website with a cash reservation. It does show bedding for dedicated (K, 2Q, sofa bed, sleeping chair), but there is no separate booking category.

Thanks DebbieB! I'll call and ask which I'm booked at.

Just got off the phone with CRO trying to add days at the beginning of our stay, and when I asked about dedicated v. lock-off, she said that I won't know until I check in, as it is only a request.

Most likely it is dedicated because the description on Disneyworld.com shows:

1 King Bed and 2 Queen Beds and 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair

Lockoffs have 1 queen bed and 1 double sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom rather than 2 queens.

That's what I'm thinking as well - when I was playing around with dates and resorts, there was actually a bookable lock-off 2BR showing at BWV, and in reading descriptions for some other villa 2BRs, I see quite a few K, 1 Q, 2 sofa bed, etc.

Thanks again for the info and help!

All 2 bedrooms at BWV are lockoffs. There are no dedicated.
