AKV...DVC got this one right

If AKV is truly the next DVC, then DVC got this one right. Everyone has had opinions about what should be the next DVC. Now that the unofficial/official announcement is out... Who's adding-on and who isn’t?

I think it is a nice locaton, I won't be doing an add on, though. Really, the amount of points I have is "just right" for us, and we love OKW. I w8ill be tempted to try AKL, after the "new" wears off and ressie become a little easier to get.

From a financial standpoint I think this was the right way to go. If AKL was persistantly below capacity and one of the reasons was its isolation, building an additional pool, another restaurant, and more stuff in general is the way to go. I also think streetmosphere in an African theme would be a good idea especially if any part of the building is away from the savannah.

Otherwise I can't say unless they build extra standalone studios into the equation. In that case I'd have to say its a brilliant move. It seems to me the easiest size unit to get is a one bedroom. That means people wanting two bedrooms or a studio are getting shortchanged.

I am so happy to hear about DVC at AKL. Today is my 10th anniversary and DH said we can buy more points. We love AKL. He loves Contemporary so if they ever do sell points there we will get some. This is a great anniversary present.

Definitely adding on. Our only regret in becoming DVC members is that we used to stay at AKL once a year and we knew we would miss it. Now we get to have our cake (or should I say zebra dome!) and eat it, too!

I'm so glad they are doing AKL first because DH and I aren't getting any younger!

yes this is the resort i wanted. but i will not be adding on at least not yet.
already have a loan out on dvc. at that time when its paid off if i havent been able to get in on the 7 month window i will probaly buy. i do not want the contempt

While I think the AKL is beautiful, we don't want to own there. DH is hoping that someone with VWL points will resale to purchase at AKL, and we'll purchase at VWL - he REALLY likes that resort.

I'm on the fence with this one. Where is the poll choice for DL? That's what I was hoping for. AK is a maybe for me, I need to see the $ first. I would never add on at CR as I don't like the atmosphere or lack of at that resort.

Same here. Will stay on occasion but with the isolation and no boat or walkway to AK we wont invest. Still a much better choice than EP would have been.

Yeah, for me, too! We'd love to add on. But I don't think the timing is right. We will probably have to wait for DVC to come to the CR.

I would probably enjoy a AKV add-on but my DH really wanted CRV. We may do an add-on but I am thinking we will wait until at least 2008. We need to add-on because our family size has grown, but our kids are still young so a 1 bedroom is still just right. By 2008/2009 we will need a 2 bedroom and we will need to start considering traveling during peak times.

So its a maybe for me. If the price is right, we may do it sooner than later.

Besides looking at animals out your window theres really nothing elese there for us, we stayed on cash once and had a nice time, great pool, but I dont think I would add on there, just my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of the DVC resorts attached to Deluxe hotels, not so much the stand alone/condo ones. While I don't LOVE AKL, I think it's a nice addition and I know the resort has a lot of die-hard fans. It's a very pretty resort with great restaurants and I'm sure the villas will be lovely.

I'm mostly just glad is wasn't Eagle Pines-I have always hated that idea!
