Wow. I just visited the resorts board and people are totally freaking out about the AKV construction. Rumors are flying about the resort shutting down for the next few weeks and people being moved to other resorts.

Panic and chaos!

I feel somewhat guilty, but not much.

Can you really blame them, wouldn't you be upset if you booked your DVC stay 11 months out, wanting to stay at a specific location, only to get moved weeks before your arrival.

Not many resorts similiar to the AKL either.

Yes. I would be upset too. I have a stay booked there in November! I guess I just roll with the punches. I trust WDW to make it right.

There also seems to be a lot of misinformation flying around. Some people are saying the entire resort is closing, putting people into a panic so they are calling CRO over and over again to confirm reservations, booking back-up reservations, etc. I feel bad that everyone is so stressed out.

I just wish I had booked an AKL standard room and they were moving me to the Grand Floridian at that cost. I think I could stand the disappointment. ;)

Some are getting Poly lagoon view!

I will be removing all DVC identifying paraphenalia prior to checking in on Sunday! ;)

We are booked to stay at the AKV Dec 29/30 will it be running 100% by then, or do they expect it to still be closed and people getting moved elsewhere?

Someone reported a couple of weeks ago that they called and were told that only small sections of the resort at a time are affected. It is because they are ahead of schedule for converting the 5th and 6th floor rooms so those people who had rooms reserved at the lodge for rooms in those areas and below them where there may be more noise than usual are the ones being moved. It is not affecting those people with reservations at the DVC portion, only those who had reservations at the non DVC portion of the resort. As we all know this could change but doesn't seem too likely.

Me too! What kills me is that we originally had a cash reservation at AKL and when we bought our points I had the bright idea to change it to a points reservation. We could have stayed at the Grand Floridian and had all the points still in our account!

We returned for a great stay at the AKV on July 8th. The room was GREAT and we did NOT hear a peep in our room. We were in the section that just opened.

From the lobby there were some midday constructions sounds in the background and I can't speak for any other area of the building, but the
54XX area was just fine.

It is a great resort and we look forward to returning next month :)

I feel bad for those who have been planning an AK vacation for months (years) only to have it pulled out from under them. I don't think they are mad at DVC people, just disappointed. I mean, if had my entire trip based around AK for 18 months and was told I had to transfer to 2 months before my vacation, I would be bummed.
