I want to apologize in advance since I'm sure this is one of those questions that gets asked about with different details all the time.

We are hoping for an AKV concierge studio next Nov the 2 weeks before Thanksgiving week. Since it is a lower point time and around the holidays am I right to assume its a popular time for DVCers? If so do I have any chance at all? Initially I was just going to call at 11 mos but now I'm reading about walking the reservation.

We know getting this room is not a given, but my husband is pretty excited over the possibility.

I am sorry I can not answer your question, but I have another related question. Are all the concierge studios savanna view? We would love a concierge studio, but savanna view if more important to us. Thanks!

There are 5 2bdrm lockoffs, or any combination of 1br and studios of those units. 2 are pool view, 3 are Savannah View (although somewhat obstructed by the roof line which was from the original hotel design and does not quite align with the villa remodel of the 6th floor). You can request SV, as everyone does, but it comes down to what becomes available on the day of your checkin.

Sometimes if the sixth floor is booked they will put concierge guests on the fifth floor. This happened to us in January. They asked our permission first. But this will be my preference in the future. We did have to take a walk and use the elevator to get up to the lounge, but the savanna views from the fifth floor rooms are better. The roof line is not in the way. So if the view is the most important thing for you, you may want to "offer" to take a fifth floor concierge room.

I think what happened to you was a very unusual situation - maybe one of the concierge villas was out for maintenance. But there are only five two bedroom villas for concierge villas and they are all on the sixth floor.

I would "walk" the reservation if you can. I tried to book a AKV Concierge studio at the 11 month window for the week before Christmas and it was already booked solid by the time I had a chance at it. Next time I'll walk the reservation.

We tried this when we were there 2 years ago. We got a pool view 1 bedroom, it was a milestone birthday for my friend and she really wanted the savannah view. We asked if we could be moved to a non-concierge 1 bedroom savannah view and have lounge priviledges. They said no way, they can't do that. They did end up moving us to the handicapped savannah view 1 bedroom the next day.

2 years ago, we had concierge lounge privileges and a 5th floor savannah view studio. I had booked concierge, it wasn't an upgrade, and we were fine with the situation. Last year we had 6th floor, roof/pool view. Our next concierge stay is next month, we'll see what we get.
