AKV Concierge!

DH did a good job for me this morning. DSis and I will visit AKV next April during F&G time, and we had decided to stay at Jambo because DSis enjoys the Sauna/steam that they have there. With recent talk here about Concierge, I began thinking of it as a possibility, but our stay will extend from Wednesday to Sunday, and I figured that the people coming in on Sunday would have it booked. However, DH called right at 9 and got us a AKV Club Studio for the 4 nights.

For my own information, I checked and the 4 night stay next year is costing 4 points less than it would have been this year However, the main thing is we got it!!! Thank you DH!!!!!

This is my first reservation for our '11 UY, a good omen, I think!!!

I totally get that! I also teach, and I always have an 8:00 class. Of course that is 9 in FL, so DH has to call for me all the time.

It's in the fitness area, where you get a massage. I haven't used either. I know she said the sauna at first wasn't quite up to the temperature she wanted, but it was fixed. DSis enjoys using those things and Kidani doesn't have them. We stayed in Kidani in March, so she walked or took a bus to Jambo. I told her that the next time we stayed, I'd book Jambo. I was going to get us a savannah view, but the concierge was only 8 points more for our particular stay.

Jean - I bolded that part as it made me laugh out loud. My husband was able to do it, but I like things done "the way I would do them". Therefore, he had to go through intensive training. I bet he still did it "his" way, and I never knew.

I've smiled lots as I've read these replies from other teachers regarding hubbies! DH has had practice, he's the one who had to book our BWV standard view 2 bedroom stay for this NYE!!!! I was in class that morning as well. I don't get good cell phone reception at my school, we're close to a very small airport, and sometimes I can't get anything.

DSis has indicated that she would like to try all 3 special things. I'm only hesitant about Wayanama since I got quite ill during the night after the meal last year. I don't know if it was a virus, the food itself (although DH was fine) or it was just my reaction to the different spices. It was a terrible night, and really we were glad to have daily mousekeeping.

Soon, I'll be booking a "spring break" stay for our Boston branch. They would like a beach/seaside vacation, VB or HH. I'll be booking something at VB, but hoping to be able to switch to HH at 7 months. It would be less of a drive for them and fewer points for us to use.

PS. When I was able, and before I told DSis about the reservation, I did check on line to be SURE that DH got what he thought he had!

Yes it was and it was successful even for a stay that begins on a Wednesday. I am very happy! I was a worrier regarding this booking procedure (up to a week from check in date, I had been a "day by day" booker for prime reservations), and I really thought that "walkers" (people who booked ahead of what they needed and cancel but keep walking the reservation to what they really want) would be having their way with these very small types of reservations. I've read about walking concierge reservation, walking for NYE and other types, and it's just against my nature to do that, and I have let Member Services know my feelings. So far I've booked what I've considered some good reservations. So, my "fear" of the walkers has not been justified, and this has made me happy.

Just back from our first May visit. We stayed five nights at AKV concierge and 2 at the GF. We had a terrific time staying concierge -- did Wanyama, and Sunrise safaris and gots lots of photos of topiaries at F & G. Felt very pampered and well taken care of.

I have to say our best meal of the week was at Citricos, even better than Jiko or Kouzzina (that was disappointing, overcooked pork chop).

You will of course have a terrific stay -- hope the food at Wanyama doesn't do you in this time.

Wow - that's great! My Dsis is seriously considering buying in to DVC and while she likes VWL would like to try others as well to be sure where she wants to buy. I am going to try to book BLT, BCV, and AKV for next May but I'm sure concierge will NOT be available. One of these days I'd like to stay concierge myself. BTW - that Tom is just wonderful.
