I have a 3 night stay booked at AKV in mid-May at Kidani. I am wondering if it is worth it and/or a good idea to upgrade one of the nights to a concierge level (if it is still availalbe) - studio.

3 people (adults). $70 price difference I think (for one night). That night would be a Monday night so no access to sunrise safari.

Thanks!

We enjoy staying AKV concierge on our points. If I were paying cash, I would not pay the difference. I know we are using more points for the room, but we are fine with that. We do not like changing rooms on a short stay because it takes up too much time. In that sense, it is not worth it to us.

Are you renting points? Is that why it's $70 more? I don't think you can upgrade to concierge for cash staying on DVC points like you can when staying at AKL.

Concierge will allow you a light breakfast, light snacks in the afternoon (think gummi bears and goldfish), appetizers and adult beverages in the late afternoon and dessert at night for your check-in day through your check out day, so if you plan things right you *could* get two full days of concierge perks out of it. However, I'm not sure that it's worth moving rooms on such a short stay as DVC villas are often not available until after 4:00pm and you are likely to be "homeless" on the day you check out of one room and check into another. That could be especially problematic if your concierge stay is in the middle of your 3-night stay because you would be checking in and checking out and "homeless" every single day. If you pack light and are the type to go into the parks and not come back until 4:00 - 5:00 pm, then I guess it would work out OK but we usually come back to the resort in the mid afternoon for a swim and really miss not having a room. I also think that you *would* have to come back to the resort by 5:00ish to fully take advantage of the concierge offerings.

I guess that it would be "worth it" for 3 adults, but only if you plan your day around using the concierge. Breakfast is probably "worth" about $10 each and appetizers "worth" about another $10 each and you could easily drink $10 worth of adult beverages if you're so inclined.
