What are the views like in the AKV concierge rooms that don't have a savannah view?

Your choice is Savanna or Pool view, sixth floor with a roof overhang.

Yes, I was looking at the AKL map and it looks like concierge overlooks Boma's roof.

I'm trying to decide whether the concierge benefits outweigh the compromised view.:confused3

I stayed in AKL Concierge in June. We had pool view the first night and then moved to the handicapped savannah view the next day. The savannah view isn't the best either, it's a small area.

We love the Concierge component at AKL and have had it twice (non-DVC stays), but for us the whole purpose of staying there is the Savannah view. There is nothing like waking up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning and seeing a herd of zebras or the giraffes. It just wouldn't be the same with a pool view, IMO.

We ended up with the Concierge pool view room in March. While I was a bit bummed at first, the view wasn't bad, and you can see the savanna's in the distance. I was happy with concierge service though, so I will take my chances again on that one! I'm thinking a 2 bedroom will have a better chance at Savanna view than a 1 bedroom will.

We've had a 1 BR with pool view and a 2 BR lockoff accessible villa on the club floor. I enjoyed both. There are so many nice places to see the animals around the lodge and the club floor is so high that it's not the best view of the animals anyway.

But I love the club level. The whole floor feels cozy even as you enjoy the incredible soaring view of the lobby.

After seeing this roof overhang, I'm thinking of taking myself off the conceirge wait list. I had an April standard view room and changed it to Feb 28-Mar3 cause my mom can't handle the heat and I didn't want to chance it in April. I could only get a savanna view, which I don't really want since the animals won't be on it at the time, so I waitlisted for concierge. Now it looks as if that's worse???

How many concierge rooms have this weird balcony? Doesn't even look like it should be a balcony on a room like this? Is the picture making it look worse than it is?

Also, if I requested close to the lobby with a savanna view or concierge anyone know why type of balcony/view I might have?

As far as the pool view goes, for the above posters, I had a pool view last April and I thought it was beautiful....jmho

I agree that balcony overhang isn't appealing to me.
It seems like the room would be too dark with the dark decor.

I am in a 2BR savannah view for April, but am thinking about waitlisting the concierge. With my kids the breakfast and snacks would be great -- we aren't doing much in the parks so we would really utilize the food.

I think maybe we'll wait list the concierge and let God decide for me.popcorn:: I would ask DW but usually says "whatever" when it comes to WDW.

I love those overhangs on the club level balconies. They really add to the atmosphere IMO. The rooms are no darker than AKL rooms. There is plenty of space to see beyond the overhangs at least in the three rooms (1 BR and 2BR lockout) that we've had up there.

And notice the real balcony furniture instead of cheap plastic stuff found at other DVC resorts.

Any room close to the lobby will have a more limited view of the animals just because the savannahs narrow and obviously end at the center of AKL which is where the lobby is located.

Too bad no concierge rooms at Kidani..That would be nice...Surprised as large as Kidani will be, that they didn't incorporate some Concierge rooms in the plan....

Nice feature is if you definately want Concierge at Jambo, you can still use the pool at Kidani...we love to walk for exercise, so the walk doesn't seem that far over to Kidani....:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well maybe my pictures made it look worse than it was, because we actually loved the overhang! It was neat to see the thatch etc. The balcony has large, so it was very easy to get away from the thatch to see out, and I took the picture because I thought it was cool looking. I certainly wouldn't give up concierge just because I had a 1 in 3 chance of getting that room again!

I went on the wait list for the concierge. I DID talk to DW and the amenities sounded good to her -- especially wine and cheese -- more so seeing a zebra or giraffe. And then there is the possibility we will get a view AND concierge.

I think benefits outweigh possible negatives, which don't sound like they are really of much concern. I think the only thing I would miss a little is the kids being able to watch the animals off the balcony. I think that would be cool.

We stayed in the pool view for 3 days. We were also in a savannah view for a few days before. The pool view is not as bad as it would seem. I actually think that the pictures are of the same room we stayed in

You have to ask yourself what you would prefer. You could stay in a savanah view or concierge.Obviously most love the view, but with concierge you get so much more. You can go on a safari & get upclose & personal. Not to mention the food & cleaning perks, turn down, etc.

Do anyone know if they let you know what view you are getting on concierge?
