I'm planning my trip to WDW next August, and am considering paying cash for 2 nights at AKV (Friday and Saturday night) before moving over to my home resort, BWV. If you book a room on cash on AKV (I'm going to book a studio), what view does that guarentee you? At BWV, you're booked in to a preferred view room if you pay cash. Is there a guarenteed view if you pay cash at AKV?

Thanks!

Bump! Does anyone know?

The answer is:

Nobody knows.

CRO hasn't had any AKV inventory for cash bookings yet (at least, I've not seen any) so price, view, villa type, etc are all unknowns.

You'll probably get more info by October-ish. By then, there should be a lot more inventory open at AKV, and some of those units should show up in CRO's inventory.

Thanks, pilferk. :)

When I inquired about a cash rate for June 2008 MS said they will not release cash rates until they finish contruction at the lodge. Who knows when that is? I would keep trying just to make sure.

AKV rooms ARE available via CRO. If any rooms have been released for your dates, they can be viewed at waltdisneyworld.com. The room descriptions are very specific, including the "Jambo" designation as well as the room class (Standard, etc.)

However, it does appear that rooms are not being made available via the DVC member discount at this time. Makes sense since the discounts is normally offered only when members staying on points will not fill the place. Since there is no established track record for bookings at AKV, they may be reluctant to offer the discount now. They may just let unbooked rooms roll to CRO via the 60-day rule.

Rates and inventory was released this past week, with the 2008 room rates. Up until then there wasn't any published rates....and when I posted on Monday, I hadn't seen them yet.

Since then, I've found them and posted them over on the AKL thread, and will transplant them here:

Studio(S) $325 $370 $440 $490
Studio(SV) $395 $440 $510 $560
1 BR Villa
1 BR Villa(V) $375 $435 $515 $585

2 BR Villa(S) $610 $795 $1005 $1140
2 BR Villa(SV) $680 $865 $1075 $1210
2 BR Villa(??) $850 $1110 $1405 $1595

Room Type Value Regular Peak Holiday

And before anyone asks...I'm not sure WHAT the 4th type of 2 BR Villa is...maybe they lumped in concierge there instead of breaking it out with the Studio and 1BR Villa?
