Hi everbody,

can you guys help me out? I've also asked a couple of questions about these Villas on the disability board, but perhaps you DCV-owners/knowers can help me out with regards to some info about the room layout?

As we all know, the floorplans posted on the internet tend to be of the standard room layouts. Nice to get some idea, but the accessible ones can be quite different.

We're wondering what the layout is of the accessible studios at AKV, BWV and VWL. What types of bedding did you have, what seating arrangements, where were these studios located?

And also, if you happen to have been in one of these studios and actually use a wheelchair yourself; how easy did you find it to navigate around the studio and the kitchenarea?

I was placed in a H/C studio last December at BWV. I have a son who is in a wheelchair and felt he would have been just fine in the studio. Matter of fact we booked one for this November. As you enter the room the bathroom was to the left. The bath room and shower are a good size. Before entering into the bed area is the kitchenette. You will be able to reach all appliance's just fine. The only complaint I would have would be the dish's were up high and someone in a wheelchair would not have been able to reach them. The one thing I don't remember was the ease of accessability to the balcony. I'm assuming it would be wheelchair friendly or I would have taken note. Our room was on the 3rd floor 2nd door from the elavator. Susan

Thanks for your respons Susan! :) Shame they put the dishes up so high. You'ld think they would've tought about that a bit better. Wouldn't be too much of a pain for me (my powerchair has a lift in it), but it would've been nicer to have them within reach when sitting at standard level.

How did you like the overall atmosphere at BWV?

I like the Boardwalk area. We find this area a lot of fun for non park days. My next DVC purchase will be BWV. My Dson also has a lift chair(manual). This is so we can stand him several times a day. You will not have any problems reaching anything. Susan
