Can anyone take advantage of the safaris offered at AKV or do you have to be staying concierge level?:confused3 We are treating my parents to a spring break trip in 2010. This will be DH's first trip "home" and I am planning on getting a SV 2BR in Kidani. I want to "wow" my parents and DH! My parents have never seen the AKL, but DH and I ate at both Boma and Jiko on our honeymoon. I would LOVE to surprise them all with a safari, but I have no intention of booking CL to get it.

Also, I understand that there is a minimum age requirement for one of the safaris. My DD's will be 6 and 4 so I think that we'd have to make arrangements for them, yes?

Any info would be greatly appreciated?

I did the Wanyama safari when I was staying in a value studio, so I know it's available to everyone. However, it's $160/person for concierge guests, but $210/person for non-concierge guests.

Thanks for the info! I better start saving now...that's $840 in TODAY'S prices for the four of us!:faint:

Very interesting - thank you. How far out can it be booked? :goodvibes

Normally 180 days but right now they can't book beyond Feb. 21 (at least I think that's the date...somewhere around that).

But the concierge will take your name and cc# and put you on a list before the booking window opens. When booking opens up, they'll take care of it for you.

OOPS! I also forgot the extra $100 for the childcare for our 2 DD's that won't be old enough! For some reason, I am not seeing this happening. Bummer...

Does anyone rent their points to pay for their safaris!?:rotfl:

We did the Waynama and sunrise safari's in March, and LOVED them both. I must say though, we were out on the sunrise one a lot longer than 30 minutes! The Waynama is well worth the price when you consider that dinner at Jiko. That can easily be $100 per person right there without the safari! I'd be hard pressed to say which was my favorite.

That $160/$210 per person includes tax and tip by the way. The dinner at Jiko includes wine.
