AKV 2 BR standard requests that could get you a partial savanna view?

I am in the midst of planning a family trip for 7 of us. We have the points for a savanna view and as much as i think it would be amazing i am not sure how much time we will actually spend in the room to make it worth the extra points. We will be getting a 2 BR --

so are there certain requests that could improve our odds at either kidani or jambo to get a better view?

Is one house better than the other with regards to the standard views? We certainly do not want to be hosting our parents and give them a view of the parking lot.

I think i recall seeing a layout of each side that had the locations of the 2 BR noted.

The converted Savannah views are all at Jambo, which means you have a (minor) chance of a partial Savannah view, but may not get it. But you'll certainly only get 1 bathroom.

All 2BR at Jambo are lock off units. So the 2nd BR will have 1 Q bed and a sleeper sofa. Kadani will have 2 Queen beds, plus a 3rd bath in the living room/entrance area. I don't think the extra points, about 24%, is worth it for a view. Especially if you will be hitting the parks heavy during the day time hours.

Prior to the conversion that was done five years ago, there were 10 standard 2BRs at Jambo and all overlooked the pool area. Jambo now has 24 standard 2BRs as the result of the conversion of 14 savanna view 2BRs located in various places thoughout the resort. See this map for probable locations of Jambo standard views: http://i.imgur.com/G2qaSva.png. A request that can possibly succeed in getting a converted 2BR at Jambo is to ask for a room along Kudo Trail (the left side of the U-shaped building) because the only standards on that side are rooms converted from savanna view. There is no risk of getting a parking lot view in standard at Jambo.

Kidani had two GVs and a number of lock-off and dedicated 2BRs converted from savanna to standard view. All converted rooms overlook the Pembe savanna (which has no giraffes). See this map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/Kindani_Village_Map.jpg. The lobby faces west and the north wing is the one on which the pool is on, and the somewhat shorter south wing heads towards Jambo's front entrance The original standards are the rooms facing west in the first four building pods from the lobby on the south wing, and first three building pods overlooking the front entrance and pool area on the north wing (note, there are no rooms facing the street/parking lot in the last three building pods on the south wing). The converted savanna view rooms that are now standard are in the fourth, sixth and seventh building pods from the lobby on the north wing. Exactly how many rooms is not clear, including because it is not clear that the entire building pods were converted. It is believed that at least half the fourth building pod was converted, all of the sixth, but no estimates on the seventh. The two converted GVs are at the end of the sixth pod and beginning of the seventh pod. The reason for the conversion in that area is because the outer perimeter fence comes fairly close to the building leaving only a limited space for animals between the buidling and the fence. However, I have been in the area and animals are often there. A possible request to make to get a room in the sixth or seventh pod on the north wing is for a room near the Pumba elevator (which is between the sixth and seventh pod). Be aware, however, that having a room in that area leaves a very long walk to the lobby and bus stop (from end to end the Kidani building is over 2/3 mile long). With the original standards at Kidani you can end up with a parking area, street, or bus stop view, particularly on the south wing. The Kidani 2BRs are about 100 sq ft larger than Jambo, have more closet space, have 3 bathrooms to Jambo's 2, and the dedicated Kidani 2BRs (a booking category) have one long balcony that runs across the living room and both bedrooms, while all lock-offs at both buildings have a wall on the balcony that separates the studio from the 1BR.

If you actually decide to reserve savanna view, then our favorite request at Jambo is overlooking Arusha savanna (one in the middle of the building), along Zebra Trail (right side of the U-shapped building), away from the lobby. Rooms that meet that request have good view of Arusha and face west, thus providing pleasant sunsets and avoiding blinding sun through the door windows in the morning. At Kidani, most request sunset savanna view to see giraffes, but the trick for a second request is to get somewhat close to lobby to avoid long walks, but without making a close to lobby request. Close to lobby is such a popular request that many who make it do not get it and they end up as far from the lobby as you can get, because they just place you in any room available if they cannot meet a location request. We have found better requests to be close to community hall or close to the Timon elevator, both of which put you fairly close to lobby on south wing and a quick walk to bus station, or close to pool or the Rafiki elevator on the north wing, both of which give you fairly easy access to pool.

I think the best opportunity is at Jambo OP. But that will mean a lock-off vs a dedicated 2BR.

The converted Savannah views are all at Jambo, which means you have a (minor) chance of a partial Savannah view, but may not get it. But you'll certainly only get 1 bathroom.

They converted savannah views to standard at both Jambo and Kidani.
