AKV 1BR Value

Hi all,
I wanted to see if anyone had any experiences they could share about staying in a value 1BR at AKV.

We are looking for ways to use less points for our 2012 trip and I wanted to check. It would be me, DW, DD(7), and DD(4).

We've stayed at the BCV the last couple of times and absolutely love the location, but we've also wanted to try AKV.

I've only stayed in a value studio at AKV, but we like it so much I've booked it again for next May. What makes the rooms values is that they are 3 feet shorter than regular deluxe rooms. They were converted from standard AKL rooms on the Giraffe and Ostrick trails, and so you have the possiblity of views of the Sunset Savanna, the pool, and two 1 br overlook the parking lot. You cannot make a view request; all rooms are on the 5th floor.

I think they are a great point value.

You can also use all the facilities at Kidani. The Kidani pool would be stellar for your children with its splash area.

They are at Jambo and are smaller than the other types of 1 bedrooms at Jambo (or Kidani, the values are just smaller units and hence, the lower point cost). I've been in a 1 bedroom with 3 adults and it was fine. There's a king bed in the master bedroom, and a queen pull out sofa in the living room. There is not a sofa chair, so the occupancy is 4.

The bathroom is across a hall from the master bedroom. It has a shower/tub/whilrlpool unit. There's a washer/dryer at the end of the hall.

You can have a savannah, pool, or parking lot/vegetation view. I've only had a pool view in the one bedroom.

I'm going with 5 other girlfriends in September, and I've booked a 2 bedroom value and a value studio. There will be 4 of us in the 2 bedroom and 2 in the studio. Personally, I like every adult to have their own bed to sleep in. However for your family, I think the value 1 bedroom will be fine. Note that in Jambo the 1 bedrooms all have just 1 bathroom.

Loved LOVED our 1BR Value we had last March. Got a SV as well (inlaws got a parking lot 2BR Value during the same time, which I didn't mind at all).

Found the 1BR to be a great size. I didn't notice how small the MBR was until we checked into OKW.. but it was perfectly manageable for the 4 of us. We'd definitely do it again if we were able to grab one as we didn't feel like we could have used the extra space that was taken away for the values. For close to the points of some studios (and maybe less than some?) and the amenities of a 1BR it's a win-win for us.

We had plenty of room for us, and our DD are a few years older. We had a nice pool view, though it was a HA unit.

They do go quickly so if you are not a AKV owner you may have a hard time booking one.

My family has stayed in a 1 bedroom value 4 times and will be again 4th of July week. Also we have one booked for next May. That will be a total of 6 times. We love them at this point. When are kids are older (teenagers) we will probably want the 1 bedrooms over at Kidani Village for the 2 bathrooms and a liittle more space. But for now they are perfect for our needs..... Be advised if you do not own here it may be difficult to get one, there are only 10 of them. 4-Savana view, 4- Pool view and 2-Garden/Parking view.

Another nice feature to these rooms.... They are located at the front of the building...no long walks. Close to everything.

Yah, when we're in a points crunch (which we normally are), the 1BR Value will be first on my list when I call at my 7month window. The space you get for amount of points cannot be beat.

I still couldn't believe we were able to get a 1BR Value at the 7 month mark and a 2BR Value during the same time a few weeks past the 7 month mark.

That's ok! I was able to see what everyone means by a hallway between the bathroom and master bedroom. So thanks!! Since there doesn't seem to be any video tours of the value 2 bedroom I am going to make one and put it on youtube later this year. I can't wait for our stay...now I need December to hurry up and get here!!!
