I thought I heard or read somewhere that the bouncy, jerky motion of the
ride vehicles of Dinosaur can be turned off? And then last week, my sons doctor said he heard the same thing. Is this true? This is the one attraction that my sons doctor specifically mentioned he should not ride (unless this in fact can be done).

No. The motion is related to the track, not just the vehicles.

I have never heard that. It is a simulator car that actually travels along a track. So, it would still need to travel on the track to go from the beginning to the end. And, there are the other ride cars, so if they slow one down, it would slow all ride cars on that cycle.

I also don't see why they might do that because the ride is mostly in quite dark scenes. The beginning is more of a tour of twilight prehistoric age, then it goes into darkness, punctuated by a quick race looking for a particular dinosaur.

I wonder if the information came from the Travel Channel "behind Disney" shows that come on from time to time - they do show the ride in progress, they show how the cars are the ride, while the "track" is smooth... :confused3

That is possible or they may have been thinking about Star Tours, which can be run without motion just to watch the movie.

I've seen that show on the Travel Channel and I am certain that is not where I got this information. I really think that I read it somewhere.

I just read about riding Star Tours the other day, so that's not it.

I am on a mission to find out where this information came from:headache:

There is a page on wikipedia about Dinosaur and that page contains a link that explains how the ride cars work. It explains that the track itself is flat, but there are triggers built into the ride that trigger the rude car to do different things which make it feel like you are gping up or down a hill, screeching to a stop or racing. Reading that might make it sound like the motion can be turned off and on.
