AKLodge: 2 Savannahs Closed This Wk!

I called AK Lodge this morning, and spoke with Guest Services---They told me that Uzima Savannah is closed now - will reopen Sat. 9/7, but also that the Arusha Savannah is closing this Wed., 9/4, and will be closed until 9/14!!!!Which means that the Zebra Trail room that I had requested would be overlooking nothing!!

The good news is--I called CRO and switched our reservation--They had plenty of availability at the other resorts, even at our discount rate, so if anyone else wants to change their reservation, it shouldn't be too hard.........We're now at the Boardwalk Inn-------Since it's my birthday Fri., the day we were checking into AKL, if I hadn't called today, I would have been very disappointed, to say the least.....

If you know of anyone who has a ressie there during that time, let them know........I noticed a few people listed on Badger's countdown page, so I'm going to email them re. this news.

Hmmm, wonder why they'd close a savanna? I'm sure that will be a bummer for the folks who paid that high rate for a savanna room. I hope they will at least discount them down to a standard view rate.

I just spoke to Guest Services at AKL myself and they assure me that anyone who paid for a savannah view WILL get a view with animals. They are paving over the road around the outside of the Arusha savannah as the trucks that go in to service the animals were getting stuck in the mud.
