which would you choose. We are staying seven nights AKL concierge. Four kids (13,9,3,1). Do you think view or being close to the lounge is more important. I was hoping the kids could go use the lounge while DH and myself are still getting ready, or putting the baby to sleep. I think to get a savannah view we would have to go to the 5th floor. I'm, getting nervous and excited we leave in 10 days.

Hi Lauren,

We are in the same boat. 4 kids, my husband, myself and my mother in law. We have 2 rooms concierge though. I'm going for the view. I will request a room on the 5th floor. My oldest two are 15 so they can get to the lounge on their own if they want. My youngest two are 4 and 2 so they will probably always be with me or the older two.

The savannah view was really important to us. Besides alittle exercise to the lounge will probably be beneficial and help burn off some of those calories from the food offerings. LOL

No decision to be made there! Go with the view. You already know your going to be doing a LOT of walking in Disney anyway so what's a little more to the lobby! (It's actually not that far) And the view every morning is "PRICELESS" Your kids will love getting up and looking at the animals every morning. We went in Nov. fro a 16 day trip and stayed at the AKL the entire trip. Our DD is 2 and loved the animals. She was usually out on the balcony. Trust me you WANT a view!!!!!

Hi there... you will have a wonderful time!

As for view...

Concierge guests get prime locations on the 5th floor - so it is not that long of a walk to the elevator that takes you to the concierge lounge. ALso it is a beautiful walk - I never got tired of it.

My 8 year old often went to the lounge by herself to grab a drink - she knew the way, she loved to use the key on her own in the elevator.. she was totally safe and felt independant. - I was not worried about her at all.

Also, if you want to be near the kids and slip out to the lounge for a drink.. there are rooms in plain view of the lounge - you could feel secure knowing that the kids are sleeping and safe and you can see the door - it's like being in your living room when they are in bed.. just steps away. (I bet a baby monitor would work too)

I saw a savanna view 6th level room when I was there (It was being cleaned and they let me look) - the view was not THAT bad.. it's just that there is roof areas below you before you see the savanna.

I didn't see pool view - but I know the view is the same as that from the balcony by the concierge elevators and it is a really fine view.

Have fun whatever you decide. Why not go up to the lounge to check in and ask to see both types of room?

You can relax with the kids and send hubby to decide... the concierge staff will be more than accommodating.

I have some photos of concierge at AKL on my web-link below.

Have a great time and do a report when you return!
