AKL vs WL

Hi everyone!

I haven't really posted here in awhile because my life has gotten a bit hectic with my husband's health. We were supposed to go to Disney to celebrate our 5th anniversary and my 30th birthday later this month but that won't happen because it happens to correspond to his last chemo treatment. We moved that trip to October for our son's 2nd birthday but we found out today that he'll have to be out of town for testing to make sure the cancer is gone a few days before we are supposed to head to Disney. So as a backup I'm thinking to possibly book us for the week after our son's birthday.

We currently have WL Courtyard View. I've NEVER stayed there and I've always wanted to stay there. We've stayed at AKL back in March but had a pool view, nothing wrong with that though.

Ok onto my question....in checking rates for the week after I've found AKL Savannah for roughly the same price as WL Courtyard Bunk. We really don't need the bunk part. I guess if we got bed rails we could try putting our son to sleep there. I'm not sure which one to pick. So of course I'm coming on here to see what my DISers would do.

Thanks!!!

I have never stayed at WL but I can see the huge advantage of having the boat to MK with a 2 year old.

On the other hand I'm sure your 2 year old would love the savanah view room.

:wizard:Good luck to your DH with his treatments.

I would go with the Wilderness Lodge because in my opinion they have a better overall location, more transportation options and I like their theme more then the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I like AKL better, but for you, I would pick WL.

You haven't stayed there before .. so go for it!:cool1:

I have always wanted to go to both so i split my stay between them both:banana: We are going to the AKL for 5 days then VWL for 2 days. I have only been to Disney once in 04 so who knows how long it will take to talk DH into going back.

When we stayed at AKL 2 years ago my DD had just turned 3. We had thought of putting her in the bottom bunk and put bed rails on. Instead we put her in the top bunk b/c it has built in wood rails all the way around. She never fell out of the top bunk. DH would lift her into the top bunk if she was sleeping when we got back to the room each night. If she was awake she climbed the ladder herself with me or DH standing right behind her, ready to catch her if needed.

DD absolutely loved sleeping in the top bunk! It was a special treat for her.

Of course if your son didn't want to or was scared of it, you can always call and get the bed rails installed.
