AKL vs. Poly

We just postponed our trip for next week due to the swine flu. I am 6 months pregananty and did not want to take any chances. We were going to stay at AKL and were really looking forward to it as my 3 year old LOVES animals. AKL was not available for our new travel dates so we switched to the Poly.

Please tell me I will love the Poly as much as AKL!

Personally I think the Polynesian has a better theme, the better overall location, more overall transportation options and bigger guest rooms.

Don't worry, lots of people love the Poly! You can always visit AKL and go to the different animal viewing areas. Poly has the most convenient transportation with access to both monorail lines, so it would probably be better for you with a 3 yr old.

As someone who has just stayed at WDW with a split between AKL & Poly, I can't tell you that one is better than the other. They were both fantastic -- you will have a great time at either resort.

Plus, with a little one & a stroller, the monorail and the beach will be nice.

We have stayed at both resorts and our two little girls prefer the PR over the AKL...you will be fine a the PR.

I've stayed at the Poly once and AKL 2 times. I can honestly say that I prefer the Poly hands down, no contest. The Poly has several things that AKL doesn't have.
1 - Outstanding customer service from everyone at the resort
2- A wonderful 24 hour CS place that has great food options and Tonga Toast at breakfast.
3 - a beautifully themed pool with the Castle in the background
4 - Wishes on the beach at night and the EWP
5 - two fantastic restaurants
6 = larger and better appointed rooms than AKL
7 - A path to the TTC, the monorail, a ferry boat, and a walking path to GF and good bus service.

IMO, the only things AKL has going for it are the Main pool at Jambo, Boma, and some animals. Poly makes AKL look like a poorly run Days Inn.

Honestly, I might be a bit harsh, but the difference in the two resorts was startling to me. I absolutely loved Poly and wouldn't hesitate to spend the $$$ to stay there again.

You will LOVE the Poly . We've never stayed at AKL so I can't compare the two, but the Poly is an awesome resort . The beach is great for viewing the fireworks with a short walk back to your room, the rooms are bigger, the volcano pool is awesome, and being able to see the castle while swimming can't be beat . Plus the monorail will be very convenient with your 3 year old and a stroller . You will have a great trip .
