AKL vs. Coronado Springs Resort

I will be attending a conference in March, the event has discount rates with both AKL and Coronado and I will need to be at the conference on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday pretty much all day.

Our thought is to come down to Disney the Saturday before the event, and stay until the Sunday after. Our sons will be 7 & 5 at time of travel. My wife will be on her own with them for three days and she isn't looking to take them to the parks as she doesn't want to have a nervous breakdown trying to manage the two of them.

So...we're looking for a place where they can stay busy on Tues-Wed-Thurs while I'm gone. We've stayed at Coronado in the past and they love the pool & playground, but I'm concerned they will get bored after a day or two, so we're strongly leaning toward AKL, especially since they have a kids club.

Has anyone taken advantage of the kids programs at AKL? Do you have any advice? Would two kids of the age of our sons enjoy themselves? Would they get bored? Is the pool and playground enjoyable?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer!!

I remember reading that your kids loved the main pool and playground in April. I think the pool is better at CSR. Maybe this time you'll get a cabana room location. Both resorts do not share buses either.

Major differences are everything under one roof at AKL, larger beds and possibility of a savanna view.

The kid's club, Simba's Cubhouse, in the Animal Kingdom Lodge is only open at night. But there are lots of scheduled activities during the day at that resort, so I think that would be your best choice.

Then you can use Simba's in the evening for a quiet meal with your wife at Jiko! :goodvibes

I would seriously consider for one day at least hiring a nanny to come help your wife take the kids to the parks. Fairy Godmothers or Kids Night Out may be available for that. There's phone numbers for them and reviews here:

As much as I enjoy CSR, I have to vote for AKL - especially with children. There are numerous things to do throughout the day for children, plus the pool, and oh by the way, don't forget about the animals!

Please check out my AKL review (about 2/3rds down the page): http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=752192&page=30

Good luck in your decision!

Both are great but probably more to do at AKL. I suppose you should question if the construction (and noise from it) would be an issue. I keep seeing posts about problems with it at AKL.

I actually think there is more to do at CSR than AKL. Especially outdoors, you can bike, rent boats, playground, pool is bigger and the grounds are larger.

I'd pick CSR!
