AKL vs. BC

We just got back from our great yearly trip and booked our free dining bounce back offer for next year. We currently have a Savannah view Queen and bunk bed room booked at AKL for next August but have been looking at the possibility of switching that to a garden view at Beach club. Surprisingly, inventory is already low for next year and the only thing currently available at BC is the GV room. Opinions?

Personally, I'd keep the savannah room at AKL, because seeing live animals outside your room beats pretty much everything else for me. But it's a personal choice, I like the BC but if I'm staying there it's going to be a lagoon view, and BC allows you to walk to EPCOT and DHS. So it's really up to you and what you are looking for the most.

AKL Savannah is Amazing at AKL as is the resort, if you enjoy the opportunity to see the animals at various savannah s, including the view out ur own slider. Grab a great cup of coffee or that Yummy oatmeal n sit outside watching the animals. If you go outside, you ll find very knowledgable CM's at each of the Savannahs that love sharing so many interesting things about these beautiful animals.
It's wonderful.. Feels like your own private Safari!

I would say it depends on how you do Disney. Will you take advantage of the view and stay in your room more than you would with a standard view? What park is your favorite? If EC, the proximity at BC is great. Either one is a good choice however, I would consider location when finalizing.

Having done both I personally prefer BC. I did enjoy AK but found it a little remote.

This!

While I enjoyed our Savannah view at AKL, I too found it remote and I didn't care for the pool at all.

August is a very HOT month and if I had to choose from the two, hands down, I'd choose a garden view at the BC. Like another person mentioned, it's within walking distance of two parks, the pool is amazing and you have the entire Boardwalk to explore when you don't feel like going to a park.

Have you crunched the numbers to see if paying rack rate for a Savannah view room is worth it to get free dining? You might want to keep an eye out for room discounts. The month of August is usually a low occupancy time of year and as a result you will often be able to get a pretty good discount.

But to answer the question I would choose BC. The pool and the ability to walk to two parks is really nice. :)

I agree that the location of the BC is a very big plus. Being able to wander over to Epcot would make the decision for us.

Our family pledges alligence to both of these resort haha. Each time it depends on the experience we want.

Beach club we definitely pick during hotter months. The location proximity to two parks and the incredible pool can't be compared to anywhere else. And maybe we are the minority, but we prefer garden view. It's so peaceful and quiet and we wouldn't want a lagoon upgrade. Most lagoon views also overlook the pool and we find it a little loud. The quick service is not as good as AKL though, but with Epcot right there, we often just sent hubby to go get fish and chips or something yummy from a near by country.

AKL is like another world. It feels so disconnected from the chaos and the parks and we love it for that. The lobby is the only hotel on property that took my breath away. We like that you can use both pools and it's like nothing will experience anywhere else. The quick service is good with lots of options. We didn't like the bus ride to magic kingdom. Actually, let me rephrase. It's the ride back. Especially late at night. And if you are stuck standing with little people it feels sooooo long. At BC we always just took the monorail to Epcot and walked casually home to beach club. Or walked back from HS. And we never found animal kingdom park too far of a ride either. We also love that everything we bring home has that animal kingdom smell, that insence smell almost. But some people may not enjoy that.

So that being said, beach club usually has a slighter edge on where we will stay.

We also got unlucky at AK at the pool and couldn't use it. I don't know if it was the time of year but I have never seen so many bugs in my life. Never seen this at any other resort and we come every year.
