We stayed in a deluxe room (concierge) at AKL last May for 7 nights and had a fantastic time. Going back again in September and have already made the ressies. Does anyone have any thoughts about what it might take to upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite? Would it be worth it call the concierge staff a few day before arrival and request a complimentary upgrade if the suites are vacant? Has anyone ever been granted this type of reguest?

Thanks in advance

Jt2323, I adore the AKL. It sounds like you enjoy the resort, too. Your best bet would be to upgrade your reservation now if you really want to stay in a suite. The suites do book up, and if you have your heart set on one, it may not be available. By the way, here is the current pricing for a one-bedroom suite at the AKL:

1 Bedroom Suite:
Value Season / Regular Season / Peak Season / Holiday Season
$620 / $695 / $775 / $875
(add tax to those numbers)

I have stayed in both a one-bedroom and two-bedroom suite at the AKL. I reserved them in advance. The two suites were identical, except that one of them had one more bedroom. ;) Here is the link to my on-line photo albums.

I hope your next AKL stay is magical, no matter what your accommodations are.

I've never heard of anyone being upgraded to a suite. I'm pretty sure they don't even discount them since they stay pretty booked up at rack rate.

We are going to AKL on Thurs. We booked using our DVC points and can only pay to upgrade when we check in. Keep your fingers crossed for me that there is still a 1 bedroom suite left.

I wonder how much the per night up-charge will be.

Anyone know?

We will be going for three nights in October, if I could upgrade that to a one bedroom for $1,000 or less, I think I would go for it.

Rich,

The concierge room that you are staying in lists at $470.00, so hopefully that would mean your upgrade costs would be $225 per night or so (plus tax)

We were put in a one bedroom suite because of a little mix-up but they had to bump some other guests to a 2 bedroom suite from the one bedroom suite for free to get us in. They said the suites are usually over booked (as they were that week) but because of the little mix-up with our room they gave us the one bedroom suite for $460 more that our 3 night stay in a standard concierge room.

Here are pictures.
