Last minute plans to go to WDW are always fun. So DH has to be in FL later today for work so we are tagging along on the drive. We made a really last minute res at AKL for this Saturday night. We will be at MK (can’t believe we’re going to MK on a Saturday) but I digress. We have never stayed at AKL and it will be me, DH, DD 11 and DD 9. Any tips or recommendations for our Sunday when we explore the resort?? We have a standard room without Savannah view booked. Surprisingly there are a lot of FP+ available at MK Saturday- not expecting it to be empty but suppose the spring breakers may not have hit yet. TIA

Our favourite resort! You may or may not have time for the kids to do some bead activities - they learn from cultural reps about drums, animals, eco-activities etc.... marshmallow roasting, storytime by fire pit. There is so much to do - grab an activity guide when you get there and pick your faves!

To eat - Don’t miss the zebra domes! They are available at Mara and on the buffet at Boma (best buffet for breakfast and dinner by far in my opinion)

Have so much fun!!!!

OK I am glad to see this. We booked Boma for breakfast at 8:45am on Sunday AM but I feel like it may be early with the time change and we will likely be at MK the night prior pretty late since it's open till midnight. Will def check out the zebra domes! Thanks :)

So jealous! You will not want to leave! Agree with PP, lots of great kids activities - DD did making a feeder for the giraffes, African drumming, animal tracking, and cookie decorating at Boma. Also you can use the pool there as well as the one at Kidani(has a better slide I believe) And of course several spots for animal viewing - we could watch the giraffes all day! Keep checking if you would like a later Boma brft - things tend to pop up, especially the day before.

When I booked our 8:45am @ Boma I saw there was a 9:40am so went back and it was still there, switched to the later time so we can sleep. Really looking forward to that breakfast. I doubt our girls will have time for much of anything but some swimming and animal viewing but I will be sure to check the Sunday activity guide- thank you

Hope you enjoy AKL as much as we do. A mentioned above, they have lots of activities for kids. Take advantage of it. The fire outside is always fun to sit around at night. The savanna is always enjoyable.

Love AKL. My favorite resort on property. Maybe have some pre-planned questions for the animal guides. They are really fun and interesting to talk to.

Don’t forget you can use both pools (the one at Jambo House and the one at Kidani). You can walk or take their complimentary shuttle to Kidani.

Sanaa (at Kidani) is a wonderful restaurant. You might want to consider making a reservation there. If you can’t get a reservation, then go early (maybe 4:30 or 4:45 or so) and you can eat in their lounge. They have a mini menu, but at 5 they will have their full menu. They also have lunch if you won’t be there for dinner.

Check out the resort activities calendar. I had a lot of fun with their drum lessons, and a couple of weeks ago one of the guides gave us a presentation on her home country of South Africa.

When you arrive, ask for a room on the Kudu trail. Even though standard, some of them have great animal views.

Also be aware that all guests are allowed to use all pools at both Jambo and Kidani. They both have great feature pools, so that's very nice.

We are going to Disney in April and are staying at Shades of Green. We have a Sunday free and my daughter loves animals (she is dying to stay at AKL one day!) so I was thinking of bringing her over to visit AKL while my husband and boys have other plans. I know we can walk around and look at the animals and eat, but are these other activities-such as beads, drums, cookie decorating, etc-only for resort guests? I know we can't do things at the pools because we can't get into the pool areas, but what are some activities she could do?
