AKL Sunset or Sunrise Safari??

Hello. Quick question about the safaris at AKL:

Can anyone tell me if the SUNSET Safari is only offered to AKL Concierge guests? The dinner at JIKO and tour for $150 pp seems like something we might want to try on our next trip.
Any information would be great! I know that the Sunrise Safari is only offered to AKL guests and we might take advantage of this feature and stay our first night at the AKL concierge to enjoy this!!!

Pictures/information would be great!

yes - the Sunset Safari (or Wanyama) is for AKL concierge guests only...and can I tell you - it's TOTALLY worth the money! We're doing it again in December we liked it so much.

I have heard of some 'grand gatherings' getting a private safari...but I'm not 100% sure on the details. You'd have to ask around on that one.

Yes - you stay on AKL property...going down on that pop-top van onto the savannahs (uzima/sunset/arusha). You'll get some pictures of AKL that no one else can get - unless they were running around on the savannahs! heheeh It's VERY informative and you'll learn alot about the care of the animals and history of the lodge.

the meal is just outstanding. nuff said!

We have stayed concierge twice here...both times on the 5th floor facing the Arusha savannah...once on Zebra trail, the other on the Kudu trail - both rooms were great. we were about half way down the horseshoe on each side...I think the further out you are, the better view you'll get. Yes, sometimes it can be a long walk - but I think well worth it.

remember - you are not guaranteed a savannah view when concierge - you COULD get a pool view...just put in a request for savannah view, you may get lucky.

there are free mini-fridges in the concierge rooms...which is always nice.

we stayed in a king/day bed room and a 2 queen room..both rooms were beautiful. I never found it too dark there at all.

there ARE cameras on the savannah facing rooms - so for privacy, keep your shades closed. Also - you can't hang towels/swim suits on your balcony to dry - you will get a call from the front desk to remove those items (it's for the safety of the animals)

all savannah facing rooms are non-smoking. you can't even smoke on the balcony - again, for the safety of the animals.

hmmm...think that's all. It really is an amazing resort...enjoy the concierge lounge...the cappuccino machine is my favorite!

Which is a better view of the savanna, Zebra trail or Arusha savannah or are they the same? I requested Zebra trail, but I think I may want Arushua savannah instead. Need your opinion.

We are doing the Sunrise safari and the Sunset safari at AKL when we go in December. This would be our 2nd time staying at AKL and doing concierge and the 2nd time we have done the Sunrise safari. I think the Sunset safari will be the highlight of our trip in December. We cannot wait.

If you look at the AK Lodge map, Arusha savannah is all around Arusha rock, it can be viewed from both the Zebra Trail and Kudu Trail.

You may want to request Arusha Savannah - Zebra Trail.

We had that view last september (room 5513) and it was great.

By the way your room number sounded familer. I think we were in that same area of rooms on our last trip to AKL.
