We are planning to stay at AKL next Dec to enjoy the Xmas season. There will be 5 of us possibly 6. A 1 bedroom suite ranges about 700.00 per nite. Yikes!! Would it be cheaper to stay in 2 adjoining rooms. I realize it can't be much less expensive. But maybe somewhat. We'll be staying the 2nd week in Dec. and i believe that's value season. Am I right? We'd also like to book a room with a savanah view. Can anyone reccomend a room with a great view. I certainly want to book this early.
Thanks

Well,

If you travel during value season savannah view rooms are $275 rack rate and a 1br suite is around $635.

Of course, any code or AP rate that is offered at that time may bring down the price of the savannah view room.

IMO, I'd go for the suite. It comes with concierge service.

I think you will be happy with whatever you choose. A 1br suite will have 2 queens and a sofa sleeper in the parlor.

2 rooms could provide you with a few different bed combinations.

Let us know what you decide to do.:D

I just wanted to mention that even though adjoining rooms sound like they can be "Joined Together" they are not. Adjoining rooms are just rooms that are next to each other (they may even be across the hall from each other). If you want two rooms that have a door inside that you can leave open to get from one to the other without going out in the hallway, you want to ask for Connecting Rooms.
From what I have read, Connecting Rooms are just a request and are not guaranteed unless you have small children or a person with a disability in one room who needs to have caregiver(s) staying in the other room.

I haven't looked at the suite layouts for AKL but I did look at the pics of the ones at the WL and not only are two rooms cheaper but you get an extra bathroom. I don't see the advantage of a $600+ nightly room. Holy cow, you could rent a pool home for not much more for a whole week! AKL and WL are frequently offered discounts which bring the room down to $139 (sometimes I've read $119 :) ). I would suggest two rooms and ask for connecting.

At WL, I would also seriously think about 2 rooms instead of a suite. We do have a suite booked for our next trip only because we want to be on the 7th floor, know exactly what view we have and we are celebrating several special occasions.

At AKL, I would take the suite over 2 rooms because I like having a parlor to relax in and not have to have everyone sitting on beds. Plus, at AKL, you may be closer to the animals if you stay in a suite vs. 2 concierge rooms.

It is hard watch codes come out and realize we can't use them on the type of room we have booked.

:sunny:
