O.K. sorry I am sure that this is posted somewhere else/ earlier?

But, I have looked and searched with no success...

We have been to AKL twice before, both times with a Savannah View.
Which, don't get me wrong...is WONDERFUL!!!

However, we are planning a trip the week before Christmas. The kids will not stay anywhere else! This is our first time going during the holidays and We have so much planned...which leaves the animals as not so much a priority this time..SO?

I have bought an AP and need to book the Best Rate (ASAP)

I need some help from you guys.... Is it worth the extra $$ for the water/pool view?

My husband is not to keen on a "parking lot" view or hearing the bus "traffic"
But is it really that bad? Or for that matter is the pool view any better...

Please help...and thank you for your input!

We are going in September and opted for the pool view room over the standard. We are not big fans of a parking lot view and didn't want to spend the extra $80 per night for a savannah view, so we went with the pool view for the extra $25.00 per night over the standard room.

Just curious too...

Can anyone tell me... with the standard rooms you do hear the buses or parking lot noise?

Or with the pool view do on you hear pool/ crowd noise?

We had a 5th floor standard view room for the first night of our 10-day May trip. It was horribly dark and, thus, depressing. I don't remember being able to hear any noise, but we checked-in fairly late and checked-out pretty early. We later returned to our much, much brighter savanna view room. To me, it's worth the money to upgrade.

and if I couldn't do savanna, I would opt for standard view next trip unless the difference is minimal. This last trip it was $50 more per night for pool vs standard, but I thought it would be worth it, it was not. Our view was of restaurant roofs, hanging towels and a sliver of pool through a tree. We never used the balcony, but opted to visit other areas of the hotel to view animals etc. If you request Ostrich Trail you will not be by the bus tranport area. I've heard many people who have had standard views and due to vegetation could not see the parking lot, we certainly could barely see the pool. Hard decision to make. We also had only had savanna experience and were so afraid of standard we booked pool view. It would depend on the cost difference to me.....the rooms should be the same inside unless you go deluxe. If you got a bottom floor pool it could be dark......and loud. :confused3

Thanks for the info. Just called and requested a high floor pool view on my ressie. Maybe we'll get PD and get upgraded to Savannah. Although we never stayed in an AKL standard view room, we did stay in a WL standard view room and didn't enjoy looking over the service area.

We had a standard view deluxe room with a King size bed. I would take it again in a heartbeat! Very quite, and as you know from staying there LOTS of public viewing places. I would go with the standard view.
