AKL Standard View

As several others have mentioned, Standard doesn't just mean parking lot. There's plenty of standard rooms on the two backside trail halls as well. Just request a standard on one of those two hallways. Maybe they aren't an expansive view or are obstructed a bit, but they aren't concrete parking views either. We stayed standard at AKL previously and got the feeding pen view as well. I think we tended to have more constant animal activity outside our balcony than some of the Savannah views, simply because the animals would come to our areas by the back pens throughout the day. Plus there are SO many public viewing sections, especially out further on the back trails that a lot of people seem to pass by. We sat there in some rocking chairs for like two hours, undisturbed.

Sorry, got cut off there but we requested any view other than the parking lot when I booked over the phone and ended up with a partial savanna view... It was lovely and the kids were in awe, I would definitely book the savanna view next time just to be sure, because now we've been spoiled

LoL, Spoiled.....This place (AKL/V) has a way of doing that to people.. & I'm not even talking about the room...The whole resort is really magical...

We just got back from our first sty at AKL and booked 3 rooms with savannah view. We got rooms 4546, 4548 & 4550, zebra trail. We saw a lot of animals both from our rooms and the long walk from the lobby. The bus situation was good, but we are going back to Epcot resort area. To far out and rooms too small and dark.

I wouldn't hesitate to book a standard room at AKL! There are a lot of viewing areas around the resort - rocking chairs in quiet places. If I really didn't like the room, I am sure I could pay for an upgrade if they had availability. I booked a standard room but I could see a lot of animals from my room - so I think it was a partial savanah view! A pool view is slightly more than a standard.

I would not hesitate to book a standard view room. I've stayed here maybe 10 times now & have been lucky to get a view every time, except when we booked a pool view. Of course, some views were better than others, but not worth the extra 100 or so dollars per night. Sometimes we take the bus, other times we take our own car. It's not too difficult to take the bus if you allow the extra travel time. This is one of my very favorite Disney resorts, especially if I'm there a few days before my family arrives. I could live there!!

During online check in I requested Kudu trail. Hoping for a decent view

The resort is magical.I would pay 10 for the pool view. This resort is great for all ages if you love animals
