I'm staying in a standard view room at AKL for 7 or 8 nights this fall. Would you make any room requests? I was thinking about requesting a room near the lobby just because I don't like walking too far at the end of the day. I don't think I want to be upgraded to a Savannah view at the way end of one of the trails. Is it good to request a room facing the lobby, or is that noisy? Any suggestions would be great.

I've stayed in two standard rooms very close to the lobby/elevator and they were both very quiet. The view wasn't bad. It was of like a partial thatch roof and looked out over the front entrace. Never heard any noise though.

I believe all rooms have balconies, atleast all we've stayed in. One trip I was on crutches and requested a room near the lobby. It was a great room! Overlooking the lobby, but still quiet. It actually ended up being a pool view. We booked standard, but if we have paid for pool view we might have been a tiny bit dissapointed, because there was a little roof area before the pool view (hard to explain), but it was really nice! It even had bunk beds for the kids, which they went crazy over. And no, there was no noise at all. I would ask at check in and hope for the best. At least at AKL, even if you have a far walk fromthe lobby, they are all interior - Air Conditioned - hallways. And there is a ton of artwork down all of the hallways. Worth walking downt he halls even if your room isn't there! It's like part art museum, part zoo. Have fun - you are going to love the lodge! Jane
