AKL - Standard View or Savannah View??

We got moved to AKL from CBR this Dec. Should we go for the Savannah view ? Do you really just see the parking lot in standard view? Can you still see animals from all balconies? Also, do all of these rooms have balconies ?? It is $15/night difference.

I believe all rooms at AKL have balconies. If in a standard view room I would absolutely NOT plan on having any view of animals. Some of the pool view rooms will have a limited savannah view. If you want to have a savannah view you might want to reserve it. I thought it was well worth the extra money. I have never spent so much time hanging around my balcony as I did while staying at AKL.

If you are going to be commando park touring, I would say a standard view is fine. If however, you plan on spending a lot of resort time, definitely go with the savannah view if you can.

Yes...If you like animals. If comes down to this -- do you want to sit down on your balcony and watch cars drive up, or Zebras and other animals wondering around? If you have kids, the animals are a must. They'll be glued to the balcony.

$15 extra for savannah view is a steal. Usually the difference is $40-$80. Don't settle for standard view unless you can live with the idea that you have a view of the bus stop while EVERYBODY ELSE has a view of the animals. (Only about 10% of the rooms are standard view.)

Spend the $15. Some of the standard view rooms have a concrete wall rather than a balcony.

If there is only a $15 difference between the standard view and the savanna view go with the savanna view.

The standard view rooms overlook the parking lot. You cannot see animals at all from the standard view rooms. People will post about how they may have gotten free upgrades from standard to savanna but these are random at best and cannot be counted on.

If the $15 a night is in your budget then go for the savanna view. If it is not then take the standard but go with the exception of looking at the parking lot.

I have to agree with most here...If it is only $15 difference, I would definitely take a Savannah view...The one time we stayed in a Standard view room was at WL and we never did again...It wasn't really all *that* bad, but I didn't really care for looking out on the balcony at the parking lot...LOL

Go with the Savannah view, it is excellent!! You will love it!

This is the first I've heard of this. I have a standard room booked and knew I would probably see a parking lot, but a concrete wall! I thought all the rooms had balconies!

No. Walking past the bus stop we saw a concrete barrier. On the other side were standard guest rooms. No balcony...just a concrete wall.

But the concrete wall does not go all the way up. In a sense the concrete wall forms the "balcony" for those rooms along the walkway to the bus stop.
