AKL Smoking Areas

My DH and I are taking several family members to WDW this year at Christmas. Two of these family members smoke. They are not staying in our room, but in a studio we have reserved. I have informed them about the smoking policy (none in rooms, none on balconies) basically only at 3 DSA's in AKL. Hopefully, they will comply. However, one is known to ignore those sorts of things. If he goes against my rules and smokes in a DVC room/balcony, what happens? Is there a fine? Does the fine go to me as owner or to him as guest? I just don't want anything messing up our DVC membership status, I would be furious if it did and he should not be smoking in a no-smoking room anyway! Just wondering what happens if he does not listen.

Just another update, we were at AKL in October and there are now only two smoking sections at the resort, one by the pool, and one off the path as you are heading towards the buses.

As smoking is a hot topic, there are no smoking discussions allowed at all on the DVC Forums. You may ask about specific locations on the Disney Resorts Board. AS far as DVC, the "official policy" is no smoking in the rooms, as you know. Officially, they can charge a fine, they should first try to bill the person occupying the room...however, you as the owner are ultimately responsible.
