AKL Savannah View Recommendations

We'll be staying at AKL this November, and wondered everyones recommendations of which Savannah view to request - having not stayed there before. Thanks!

We always request the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail. The restaurants and pool are on this side of the Lodge.

We also requested Arusha Zebra trail last trip (based on suggestions here). DH loves zebras (his dad loved zebras and passed away a few years ago - zebras remind dh of his dad). When we checked in, the CM noted our request but said we were placed in Uzima somewhere. He called someone over and I was explaining how we really would love to see the zebras if at all possible - he told me you could see zebras anywhere. I said, "Really, I was told that you could only see them on zebra trail." He told me I was wrong. When the other CM came over, she pushed some buttons and got us on zebra trail, saying "That is the only place you can see the zebras." Lol

We also requested Arusha Savanna, Zebra Trail. We ended up with Kudu Trail, Sunset Savanna. If you they try to give you that while you are checking in, you should do everything you can to get them to change you. It is where they are doing the construction.

Is it difficult to get your savannah of choice?

We are concerned about that too. We are spending a lot of money for a room to see the animals, but we've also been told by many that the Arusha Savannah is the only one that is worth it.

We are going during value season (late Jan/early Feb) so we thought that might increase our chances a bit of getting an Arusha because it will be less busy.

What are your experiences with this?

All I did when we stayed there was just request a room with a nice view from the balcony. It did not disappoint. We were on the third floor and about seven rooms down the hall from the lobby on the right side facing the savannah.

For those who have never stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge - the lobby is on the third floor on the building. You do enter on that level from the parking lot. If you are a family with strollers or smaller children and don't want to have to deal with elevators every day, you might want to request the third floor.

On the other hand, if you don't have any kids, you might want to request anything but the third floor. That was us and every morning we had a steady stream of families going by our door first thing in the morning. When I go back to Animal Kingdom Lodge, I am really going to request any floor but the third floor.

Avoid Kudu Trail, Sunset Savannah. If you look at a map on allears, we were on the 3251-3285 wing that goes out into the savannah, facing south. Saw animals for about 10 minutes total. Try to get on the Arusha savannah.

I think that Zebra Trail on Arusha Savannah, third building down, is just about perfect. It would put you midpoint of the savannah, with Arusha Rock overlook to the left, and plenty of trees and animals in front of you.

I can't believe I don't know the answer to this question, but what is the best way to make a request these days? We leave in just over a week and I would LOVE to be on the Zebra Trail!!

As of last month we could see zebras on the Uzima Savannah. Here is one photo for proof. We were still Zebra trail, just overlooking the Uzima Savannah. Rm 3551--almost all the way at to the end and then turn right and go almost all the way to the end again. It was a long walk, but not unbearable, and we had great views. Yes, I would have liked the Arusha Savannah, but we saw many animals every day. I didn't want to get too specific on our request so it stated only Zebra trail and that is what we got! It did not disappoint.

Another vote for Arusha savannah, Zebra trail. we had an awesome view of all the animals from our 3rd floor room.
