AKL-Savanna view-which floor is best?

I have never seen the views from these rooms, are some floors better than others? I am hoping that if the room is designated "SV" that it won't be that you have to hang from your balcony and stand on your head to see the animals. Any favorites out there? Thanks for the info..

The Arusha savannah has giraffes and is the largest savannah. I'd recommend asking for that. It's a broad "U" shape, with 2 wings going off the main lobby. There's a wonderful public viewing area right in the center of the "U". Zebra wing is nearest to the pool and the other wing (name escapes me) is the opposite direction, on the left side.

We requested the 2nd floor, which is the lowest, and just loved feeling we were very close to the animals. Normally, we want a higher floor, but not at AKL. I'm sure you have a bigger view on a higher floor, but we preferred to see the animals close up. This seems to be a matter of personal preference. The top floors are concierge and the deluxe savannah rooms.

I've read a few posts that their view was somewhat obstructed, but that doesn't seem to be very common.

Before we checked into the AKL, the kids and I walked every trail looking at ALL the savannah views from each side of both wings (while DH took at LONG nap in the car!). After viewing them all, our universal preference was for (and this is what I faxed in):

Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah View, bunkbeds, NS, with a room number of X503 or better. I asked for 3rd floor as a first preference, and 4th as the second.

If you look at a resort map, you'll see this puts you facing the "interior" savannah, and into the second "building". We received 4th floor, which was wonderful, although we'd like to try 3rd as well. We had a wonderful view of zebras, giraffes, bongos as well as other animals, but were far enough out that we weren't watching people. We were right by the "second" elevator--and on the side of Mara and the pool. We thought this was the most perfect location in AKL.

We had thought we would like the 2nd floor, but realized for us we wanted to see more of the "sweep" of the Savannah.

IMO the Savannahs on the sides of the lodge, although with interesting animals, were not as enchanting (i.e. being able to see the fences at the edge of them and some maintenance vehicles on one of them)

We just returned from AKL; 5th floor zebra trail; first pod. If I were to ever return, I would ask for 3rd floor, third or fourth pod. The view from the first pod was nice but too much of the public viewing area. I liked 5th floor but think the view is better from the 3rd where you are closer to the animals.
