AKL Rooms and View--deluxe?

DH and I will be making our first trip to Disney with DS (3) and DD(1). We are staying the last 5 days in a 1 bedroom at OKW.

DS is absolutely wild about animals so we want to stay at AKL for the first 2 days. We know we want a savannah view room. Are there any particular wings/ rooms we should ask for to get a better view?

Also is it worth it to pay the extra money for the Savannah room "deluxe"? Is it a significant amount of extra space? Is it a better view?

While we are there, we expect to just stay at the lodge, relax, and check out AK (but not the other parks) With the small kids we'll be spending a decent amount of time (naps....) in the room.

Arusha savannah, zebra trail is what a lot of posts mentioned as the view to request. When we stayed concierge on the fifth floor, I requested that view, and we were very pleased. If you can splurge for concierge, I would highly recommend it. I believe concierge includes a deluxe room. I can't compare with the regular size, but again, other posts have indicated there wasn't much difference in size than the deluxe.

We have stayed in both standard savannah view and deluxe. The difference in size is not much if any. The deluxe room has bunk beds and a day bed but with your small children doubt you would be interested in bunk beds. Our standard room view was on the second floor and it was great. We were on the Arusha Savannah Kudu Trial. The second floor is perfect for animal viewing. Our deluxe room was on the fifth floor and while the animal viewing was quite good (Arusha Savannah Zebra Trail), the second floor was better. We were doing Concierge when we stayed on the fifth floor but I'm pretty sure deluxe rooms are available without Concierge. Since the size of the room was your main concern. the standard savanah would work fine for you. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
