Hi,

We'll be at AKL from Thursday 10/28 - Monday 11/1. I booked concierge for the first two nights (so we can take advantage of the sunset safari on 10/29) and a deluxe savannah room for the other two nights (for maximum animal viewing).

Now that I'm rereading the resort info, it seems that all deluxe rooms are on the 5th or 6th floors. Is this good viewing or am I better off switching to a standard room so I can request a room on the 2nd floor?

Appreciate advice from anyone with firsthand experience.

Bumping up.

We are doing AKL concierge but we don't want 5th floor (in my opinion more obstructed by the trees to see the animals) we want 4th floor (better view). Wondering whats our chances to getting 4th floor.

We've stayed at AKL twice in a 5th floor Concierge room. The view was fantastic. Personally, I don't think the view would be much improved on the 4th floor. In addition, I don't think it's an option. The concierge told me that they have rooms on the 5th and 6th floors only.

You'll get a great view from the 5th floor and you can go out to Arusha Rock for close up pictures, etc. AKL concierge is awesome! Enjoy your trip!:D

Hi, we have stayed at AKL twice and have found that the 2nd and 3rd floors are the best for animal viewing. Hope this helps:D

I have heard great things about the 3rd floor. That is the one we requested.
I've heard people say that you are far enough up to see everything but close enough to see the animals better

We are thinking of staying at AKL for at least two nights in Dec. 2005. Do we have to stay concierge over a Fri. or Sat. night to get the Sunrise Safari? Or can we stay any night of the week and book for the next Saturday's Sunrise Safari? Is the 6th floor the highest floor of the hotel? (All those tromping feet above me in hotel rooms drives me nuts!) Thanks!

I have a question about standard room pool views -

are they all fairly close to the lobby/restaurants/elevators, etc? We just don't want to have to take a hike to get food and drink, etc. after walking all day in the parks - especially with 3 young kids.

Any advice on good pool views would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :sunny:

From what I have learned, to attend the AKL concierge sunset safari you have to stay the night at AKL concierge (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday) to get to go on that safari.

Pool view rooms are some of the closest rooms to the lobby, restaurants and elevators. Ours was on Zebra trail on the 4th floor, sorry don't remember an exact room number but it had a beautiful view of the pool area. There are elevators staggard throughout the resort so you never seem to be too far from one. Pool view, zebra trail we were also close to the kids club and laundry and bar area. It was very enjoyable to sit on our balcony in the evening and listen to the AKL music, read and people watch. We really enjoyed our pool view!

It's my understanding that the deluxe savannah view rooms are on the upper floors and are slightly bigger. They're the only rooms that can accomodate 5 people.

If you don't need to sleep 5, the standard savannah view rooms would work fine for you. We requested 2nd floor, Arusha savannah and loved the view. It was incredible to be so close to the animals! If you want to be closer to the pool, you could also ask for Zebra trail.

Thanks MinnieGi! I know a lot of people prefer the Savannah view, but I think I'm going to really enjoy the pool view - for some of the same reasons you listed. :sunny:

Thanks, minybear! That's what I thought, we will definitely be booking for the safari.:teeth:

I am with you Papillon:). We have already booked both safaris and cannot wait to attend them both.:teeth: :hyper: :hyper:
