Pm me. I can give u the info I have. Did he make your reservation or are you one of the ones that never had their reservation made?
every time I try this site it says closed
Make a reservation off site or in a value. Have both reservations but check into DVC late in the day. You don't know if he sold the same reservation several times and there will be 20 people showing up for the same reservation. If you can get his name then jump on the orange country website and look up his deed (search here). Look at the paperwork and find where he lives (state and country-county is usually listed on the notary seal). Go to that states tax records website (tax records are public info) and search his name and country. If he owns a house it will come up. Search on google his name and address to get his phone number. It will take you a couple hours but... i had a need to contact another owner. All i had was his last name. An hour later i was talking to him on the phone... If you look at your paypal paperwork his name may be on it. Remember these are deeded properties. So you can search for the DVC deed. I seem to remember that if you can't work out your problem ebay will supply the address and contact information for the seller. That is where i would go at this time. At this point all you want to do is talk to the guy and confirm the reservation is real and yours.... Good luck, i know that empty feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you are totally at a loss as to what to do next.
Hi Melissa.
That is the same thing we experienced. However something happened in Jan sometime. He was great when we booked our ressie and then I tried to contact him for a friend and no response, Alot of others who purchased contacted me and had the same problems. Something happened in Jan. Problem is, we wanted to add the dining plan. Can't do that without the owner calling. We don't go without the dining plan so we immediately filed a complaing. ...luckily just before our 45 days. I also think all the reservation already booked...should be ok..unless dues aren't paid or something.
For those of you who had contact with him, if you have his full name, can you look up other people in his town or the surrounding towns who have the same last name and call them to see if they know if something happened to him? I wouldn't get into details with people, but just ask if they know him and if something happened to him. It seems strange for someone who was so involved to suddenly be totally unreachable.
Someone here was already in touch with friends or relations of his on Facebook and didn't get anywhere.
makes me wonder if he was a dvc worker?
also with 19 properties - dvc management had to know what was
going on.
now with all these problems , what will dvc do with his properties?
there seem to be many who are renting to get dvc rooms &
i think more of these type of problems will keeping happening until
something is done.
we paid a pretty penny for our blt points. during our first visit, we
saw way too much inappropriate behaviors.
behind the dvc scene, i am expecting them to get a handle on
enforcing their dvc policies, & making changes to limit excessive
renting.
when we were young & was not rich. our family wdw vacations
were major part of showing our children how important they
are to us. i feel bad for those losing their trips by these
measures.
Seriously what is with you thinking everyone that works for DVC is dishonest.
I know for fact he does not work for DVC. And it is not against policy to rent your DVC points, whether you agree with that or not. And DVC does take measures against commercial renting.
eBay was no help. It's been over 45 days from the auction, but our reservations aren't until the Fall. His account has been deactivated and all of the auction information is gone.
The hard part is getting any information from DVC about it, all I know is as of now the reservation is valid. However, they can't speak with us about the reservation at all since we are not the memberl. I even asked to put a note in the file and to be contacted if something changed on it and they couldn't do that. I think they may just now have been made aware of the situation with this DVC member because we aren't the only one in this situation. It's very frustrating and stressful!
Interesting that this option is not available for the Villas at Grand Californian.
I do not own DVC but I am curious if there is anything you a contract that states something to the fact that you can not use your points commerically.
We ended up renting from a friend after all of this and when we told him the situation, he said he's surprised Disney hasn't found a way to stop him. Although he did say that although they technically can't tell him what to dom they do frown upon it.
Does anyone who owns DVC know of anything in the contract? Just curious.
They instituted something a couple years back that was designed to flag people who could be commercial renters by quantity of bookings or something. There was a huge discussion on the DIS about it. I don't know if the rule was ever fully implemented or if is ever actually used.
