Pm me. I can give u the info I have. Did he make your reservation or are you one of the ones that never had their reservation made?

Make a reservation off site or in a value. Have both reservations but check into DVC late in the day. You don't know if he sold the same reservation several times and there will be 20 people showing up for the same reservation. If you can get his name then jump on the orange country website and look up his deed (search here). Look at the paperwork and find where he lives (state and country-county is usually listed on the notary seal). Go to that states tax records website (tax records are public info) and search his name and country. If he owns a house it will come up. Search on google his name and address to get his phone number. It will take you a couple hours but... i had a need to contact another owner. All i had was his last name. An hour later i was talking to him on the phone... If you look at your paypal paperwork his name may be on it. Remember these are deeded properties. So you can search for the DVC deed. I seem to remember that if you can't work out your problem ebay will supply the address and contact information for the seller. That is where i would go at this time. At this point all you want to do is talk to the guy and confirm the reservation is real and yours.... Good luck, i know that empty feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you are totally at a loss as to what to do next.

Great website for information! I've found many deeds listed in his name. Getting documentation together of EVERYTHING at this point.

I just wanted to say how sad I am that this is happening to all of you. This should not happen for any trip but especially not Disney:sad1:

I also rented points from scott. I spoke with him by email and on the phone lots of times between Sept and Oct. Checked lots of his references and verified his ownership in DVC on the comptrollers website. It showed him owning 19 DVC properties. He was always great to deal with and lots of repeat customers. I paid him on Oct 25th and he made my ressie that same day. He emailed me my confirmation info within days and sent me my original confirmation from DVC via overnight fedex as soon as he got it in NOvember. I really had no other need to contact him till dec. when My best friend decided to rent points from him for her feb trip. Again he responded to my email within a few hours and they worked everything out between them and he talked to her several times over the next week about her trip. He emailed her her confirmation # also. She then tried to email him 5 days before her trip, it was the end of Jan. And he never responded. She kept checking her ressie on line and is was showing up. When they arrived at Animal Kingdom everything was fine. My trip was planned for about 6 weeks after hers, so now I'm freaking out because it was past the 45 days for EBAY or paypal to get involved. So I kept trying to reach him and nothing...... I just kept checking my reservation on the disney website and when I checked in everything was fine. That was just last week. Our Dates were 3/26 - 4/2. It seems like anyone that actually got a reservation # from him and had contact with him that their trip is fine. It's mostly the people who just won Random auctions that were not actually created just for them are the people having the problems. I would just keep checking your ressie on the disney site. If it gets cancelled you'll know it! Good luck. You can PM me if you have any questions!

Hi Melissa.

That is the same thing we experienced. However something happened in Jan sometime. He was great when we booked our ressie and then I tried to contact him for a friend and no response, Alot of others who purchased contacted me and had the same problems. Something happened in Jan. Problem is, we wanted to add the dining plan. Can't do that without the owner calling. We don't go without the dining plan so we immediately filed a complaing. ...luckily just before our 45 days. I also think all the reservation already booked...should be ok..unless dues aren't paid or something.

Luckily we were on the old way of adding the dining plan where he told MS we wanted it at the time of our reservation and I paid for it when we arrived. And, when I kept checking my reservation is said "plus dining". So he did add it at the time he made my ressie and I paid for it at check in. So that part worked out because like you we never go without the dining plan. I dont care what anyone says, we know how to maximize it and WE LOVE IT! I just cant figure out what could of happend to him????? He has all those points to use every year and now no one will ever want to do biz with him again. I just dont get it? As far as I know, He didnt actually scam anyone, like take their money and not give them a ressie at all or cancel existing reservations. Except for the people that won auctions that he never contacted them to make their ressie, but all of them would be in the 45 days from EBAY to get their money refunded. I just dont get it???? Maybe we will never know!:confused3

For those of you who had contact with him, if you have his full name, can you look up other people in his town or the surrounding towns who have the same last name and call them to see if they know if something happened to him? I wouldn't get into details with people, but just ask if they know him and if something happened to him. It seems strange for someone who was so involved to suddenly be totally unreachable.

Someone here was already in touch with friends or relations of his on Facebook and didn't get anywhere.

I have his full name, address, cell phone, personal email and he owns a travel website. Fenixholidays.com I have tried various ways to reach him to no avail. Even thought I found him on facebook but it wasnt him. Now, my trip is over so I'm not as worried about it as I was before. I also checked his local paper and online court dockets to see if he was maybe arrested or deceased and nothing..... There is a comments area on the fenixholidays website. You click on blog then comments on the bottom right and you can read comments from alot of people about him. Some who say that they have checked with the local law enforcement and all they do is verify that there a 3 people with that same name living in fort lauderdale. Its just all so crazy!

makes me wonder if he was a dvc worker?

also with 19 properties - dvc management had to know what was
going on.

now with all these problems , what will dvc do with his properties?

there seem to be many who are renting to get dvc rooms &
i think more of these type of problems will keeping happening until
something is done.

we paid a pretty penny for our blt points. during our first visit, we
saw way too much inappropriate behaviors.

behind the dvc scene, i am expecting them to get a handle on
enforcing their dvc policies, & making changes to limit excessive
renting.

when we were young & was not rich. our family wdw vacations
were major part of showing our children how important they
are to us. i feel bad for those losing their trips by these
measures.

"also with 19 properties - dvc management had to know what was

That's my thoughts exactly. When you look at how many successful auctions he had on eBay, and how many DVC properties he has, there is no way that DVC doesn't know that these are primarily rental properties.

Our reservation is still showing up as valid, and we don't do the dining plan anyway, so all I'm doing is checking it daily to make sure everything remains OK.

Seriously what is with you thinking everyone that works for DVC is dishonest.

I know for fact he does not work for DVC. And it is not against policy to rent your DVC points, whether you agree with that or not. And DVC does take measures against commercial renting.

Agree. Im sorry this happened to anyone, but the fact that he had 19 contracts is not evidence that he was running a commercial business or that DVC should have cracked down on him for owning so many contracts.

I have way more than 19 contracts and I dont rent commercially and DVC has never told me I cant add on anymore:goodvibes

I am from a very large family, with an even larger extended family. Between our trips, cruises, and family reunions, I use my points well.

I continue to hold out hope that all is well with everyone's vacations as I know how much it means to these families.

eBay was no help. It's been over 45 days from the auction, but our reservations aren't until the Fall. His account has been deactivated and all of the auction information is gone.

The hard part is getting any information from DVC about it, all I know is as of now the reservation is valid. However, they can't speak with us about the reservation at all since we are not the memberl. I even asked to put a note in the file and to be contacted if something changed on it and they couldn't do that. I think they may just now have been made aware of the situation with this DVC member because we aren't the only one in this situation. It's very frustrating and stressful!

No, they can't speak to you about it, but if you follow the advice given a couple of posts up about finding it through the Disney website, at least you will know for sure if you have a reservation or not. Then once you know that, you can move ahead from there.

I do not own DVC but I am curious if there is anything you a contract that states something to the fact that you can not use your points commerically.
We ended up renting from a friend after all of this and when we told him the situation, he said he's surprised Disney hasn't found a way to stop him. Although he did say that although they technically can't tell him what to dom they do frown upon it.
Does anyone who owns DVC know of anything in the contract? Just curious.

They instituted something a couple years back that was designed to flag people who could be commercial renters by quantity of bookings or something. There was a huge discussion on the DIS about it. I don't know if the rule was ever fully implemented or if is ever actually used.

20 rentals per year is what I have read. Disney won't get involved because members who rent their points doesn't negatively affect them. The member had to buy their points and many were probably bought direct, and it brings people into the parks and restaurants.
