We stayed last year in a savannah room and quite frankly didn't see alot of animals at all. The savannah view rooms are like in a big horseshoe and we were on the end. When we checked out across the hall opposite side were alot of giraffes! What area is this because I think it had alot more animals to view? Anyone know? I have a savannah room booked for next month but wondering what area this was I want to request (of course, this wasn't in the savannah area so this may be a standard?)

Donnamerry, I stayed at AKL last December in Room # 4306, Kudu Trail, Sunset Savanna. The first thing we saw when the CM took us to the room were giraffes. They were out all the time as well as many other animals. The room was a queen/bunk bed room. It was a walk to the lobby, but a pleasant one really. Any other questions, please ask. Have fun planning!:)

We were just there 5-1 and had a room in Concierge 6th floor on the Sunset Savanna. There were 3 male Giraffes that I loved to watch!

Hi!
We just returned from AKL and had Room #2223 on the Kudu Trail and we saw giraffes everyday!! :) There were 2 or 3 of them in the morning and then at night!! :)

My family and I stayed at the AKL last year and this year. Our first year we stayed in room 5505 and found that the Zebra Trail facing the main savanna is the best. You can see so many of the big animals and with great landscaping. Our second morning was great seeing giraffes and many of the other mammals together, We could also view Arusha rock from the left of our room, and that was nice too.

thanks for all the replies. It just seems to me across from where we stayed and we had a deluxe room on the horseshoe end facing the savannah that across the hall (not facing savannah) had more giraffes and animals! If this sunset savannah I'll take it! but I thought all savannah views were inside the big 'horseshoe'?

Actually, all Savannah views aren't inside the horseshoe. There are 3 savannahs. The horseshoe is the Arusha Savannah. The other 2 savannahs are Uzima and Sunset. There are usually 3 or 4 giraffes on Uzima and 3 on Sunset. Arusha has 2 giraffes. Last year, they used to rotate the giraffes between Arusha and Uzima every other day, so it is possible not to have seen any on your savannah for 2 days.

Arusha has more of the big animals. Zebra and Wildebeests are only on Arusha. I believe each savannah has animals unique to it.

Sharon,
thanks for reply. I guess I thought all 3 savannahs were inside the horseshoe! Now it's making sense after being there how the three savannahs are set up. Well, after staying in the Arusha last year, I'm trying Sunset for the giraffes! Thanks again!

I would just ask not to be over the 'people pens', which are near the lobby.

They look like a corral. They are there in case of the need to evacuate the building. They have to have a safe place to evacuate the people to so the animals won't bother them....or vice versa.
