AKL.....questions....

Ok...I posted the other day about how we ended up with AKL instead of the BC. The rate for the Beach Club for October was over $300 a night and there were no discounts to be had at all.

Anyhow, we switched from BC to AKL and saved almost $800 for 4 nights. We have never been to AKL...we have never even set foot in this hotel. We are huge fans of the WL though so we are going with an open mind and excitement as we are animal lovers all the way!! We did get a savannah view and I hope that's good.

My question is: are there coffeemakers in the rooms and if not, can we request one? (if not, we are going to buy a 4 cup thing to make our own as we love our morning coffee...

Also, has anyone had a massage at the AKL? We scheduled one for an afternoon. I figured since we saved so much money...what the heck....

We just back from 8 nights at the AKL. They do not have coffee makers in the room but one of the benefits of AKL is that you can order "real" (Kenyan) coffee from room service which is what I did. So worth it.

Hi Esmeralda, when are you going to AKL? I had wanted the WL, too (DH's only interest in WDW is the WL), but it was booked. So I "settled" for the AKL. ( I am so excited about going there now, I can't stand it..) I also got Savannah view, after working on it day by day for 4 days and about 8 modifications! So, from what I know, there are coffee pots available, first come, first served. ( I had them make a note in my reservation, and for bunk beds for DS's, but they say no guarantees..) I had to request it from mousekeeping at the WL, and it didn't seem that there was a really good place to put it, like they didn't have them in mind when they designed the rooms...I always request extra coffee with a note left in the am with my tip. It seems that some of the Moderates have them in the rooms already, but maybe the ones that are more for conventions and business travel, like CSR.

We visited the AKL on a previous trip, just to check it out. DH isn't really thrilled with African Art, I can take it or leave it. I am hoping that once we are immersed in it, we can appreciate it more. And the animals outside our balcony will be heavenly for all of us, including DH, who is a HUGE animal lover. (HE isn't actually HUGE himself, his love for animals is.. ) So anyway, it would be great if we were there at the same time, I would recognize you anywhere, especially if you wore your Monty Dog hat...

You won't see me in the massage room.. I DON'T like them...Especially anyone touching my feet.... You are so right to treat yourself with your savings. I tried to find out what my savings were over rack rate, but couldn't find the rates. I am going to present those figures to DH if he starts complaining about spending $168/night for a room..

I cannot believe how much we loved the AKL - we just went there for the 1st time a week ago. We always loved BC for SAB but now AKL is our favorite! Hope you love it as much as we did! Have a great time!
