AKL Questions, staying in Sept.

I am very interested in staying at AKL in Sept. I have a few questions for any AKL pros out there;
1) Are there any great rates for the AKL out there for Sept right now? I am a DC member.
2) What are some of the best rooms for the concierge guests?
3) I am planning on doing Tues., Sept. 17th at the AK park, then I will relax at the resort for the rest of the day. What are some really great things to do while staying here?
And Last......
4) I am going to do the concierge level, how are the wines and cordials? I also plan to eat at Jiko's that night. Are the snacks great in the Concierge lounge or should I just order a appetizer(sp) in Jiko's?

Thanks for any help, and extra suggestions you might have.

I don't know about DC discounts but I got a good deal on AKL Concierge with AP for Labor Day weekend. I also posted to ask what rooms were best for concierge and everyone who responded said to request 5th floor Arusha Rock Savannah on Zebra trail so that is what I have requested. Since you are planning to stay on Concierge level I recommend that you sign up for the Sunrise Safari. It is only offerred to Concierge guests and I think they offer it on both Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Concierge itinerary planner at AKL has been wonderful about booking everything for us from PS to Sunrise Safari to even Illuminations cruise and Tours.

We stayed at AKL a few weeks ago. Didn't stay concierge, so can't answer those questions. Zebra Trail is very nice as it is closer to the pool and restaurants, so it is a shorter walk. I imagine being at the end of the opposite trail would make for a VERY long walk to pool etc. We had rooms 2551 and 2553 which were on one on the off shoot halss. This meant less people walking by and quieter. We had no noise problems at all. Also the view was very good. Saw many animals from our balcony.

There is sooooo much to do at AKL. Just walk around on your own absorbing everything. Storytelling at the firepit every night. The pool, the pool, the pool. Rocking chairs and overlooks. Tours of the resort. The music in the common areas is wonderful. I highly recommend this resort. Enjoy!

Sharoncity, Thanks for your great reply on what to do at AKL. I guess that I will try and get on the Zebra Trail.

TC Mattoon~ Thanks for letting me know that the concierge is really helpful. I have not started to make any PS's and from what you said maybe I should just let them handle things. The only one that I am worried about is Cindy's, but trying to get it is still months away.

On the back of the resort map (given at check-in) will be a schedule of resort activites. When we went they included a lobby tour, watching the pelican & flamingo feedings (the person who did this then came off the savannah to the guest area to answer questions), an African CM gave a talk about their home country, story time at the fire pit....

We just spent all of our time at the Lodge, we didn't hit the parks until after we moved to BWV. Since we upgraded to Concierge at check-in, we weren't able to get the SS. Even the wait list was full.

Sorry, we rarely drink, so I can't tell you about the wines and cordials. I can tell you that the lovely CM assisting with the concierge breakfast helped me make, what DH's mouth STILL waters for - WONDERFUL hot chocolate, even if it didn't have whipped cream. Using the hot frothy milk from the expresso machine, instead of hot water, with the packet of instant hot chocolate makes all the difference. He's looking forward to having it again this December.

We had dinner at Boma's both nights and didn't even look at the evening concierge goodies.
