Don't know if this has ever been asked, but I'd like to know something about visiting the AKL. We are going to have dinner at Boma one night, and I thought it might be nice to go a little earlier to see some of the animals. Where would we go to see them, and what time are the animals usually out in those areas?
Last time we arrived just in time for our ADR, and it was dark when we finished. We never really got to see the AKL other than the area between the front door and Boma! Thanks for any suggestions!

BOMA is centrally located, and you can just step out on to the central savannah viewing area (Arusha Rock) and see the animals. You could also wander down the hotel to several public viewing areas, if you judge that you can get a better view of a particular animal from there. You can also wander into the nearby pool area and see the flamingos. Your idea to drop by early and check out the hotel and the animals on the savannah is an excellent one. Just get there before dark. The hotel is cool, too, just for itself. I even had fun going through the gift shop, of all things, and I am generally a "typical guy" when it comes to shopping ;-)

We have made it a point to arrive early for dinner at Boma several times. We just walked straight through the lobby, down the stairs and out the doors. There is a viewing area there with info about the animals on signs as well as CMs to answer questions.

Depending on your ADR time, you may want to get there early enough for the culinary tour. It is at 3:45 or 4 depending on the day you go. It meets in Jiko. No reservation or fee and you don't have to be staying AKL to enjoy the tour.

THANK YOU!! I am really looking forward to seeing the AKL in more detail in August. I never heard of the culinary tour; thanks for the info!! Do they offer the tour every day? Would I call the hotel directly to find out about the time for the day we're going? I believe our ADRs are for 7:30; do you think it's too early if we arrive at 4? Sorry for all of the questions. I just want to be prepared and really get to experience more of the "feel" of AKL. Thanks again.

You mean there's hope for my husband?? In that case, we will DEFINITELY be checking out the shops. Thanks!
