Hello! I'm hoping to get some opinions on where to stay for our upcoming trip this November. My 2 kids and I (ages 11 and 8) are currently booked for a 4 night stay at POR. Dh and I were talking tonight and thinking that maybe we'd spring for an upgrade. At this point the only deluxe that are available (with the offer we used) are woods view WL or pool view AKL. I'd be all over WL, as we are planning on 2 days MK and 1 day EP. I am concerned about the construction and the fact that the pool will be closed. With such a short stay we'll be spending most of our time in the parks but the kids I'm sure would like a little time at least to swim. Are there other smaller pools at WL that will be open? I've always thought AKL looks like a beautiful resort, but since we won't be visiting AK this trip, is it silly to stay there? Is it a really long bus ride to MK and EP? Or, we can always keep our ressies as is and stay at POR and save $500. We stayed there a few years ago and we loved it. The only deluxe we've ever tried was Beach Club. We loved it as well and we're glad we spent the money to stay there. This will be my first time taking just the kids, it will be a surprise for their birthdays, and if it makes sense to upgrade we will. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I'd still go WL. It is beautiful and construction will be impacting the quiet pool and beach. It seems like a chunk of the resort will be ok. It is close to MK. Or I'd keep the POR. Their quiet pools are fantastic. I'd skip AKL since it is so far out from where you will be spending time.

We've stayed at both WL and AKL and love them both for different reasons. If you want to upgrade from POR but don't want to deal with construction at WL, I think AKL is a great choice. We've had 2 stays at AKL and visit every trip to eat at Boma and we have never had a problem with transportation. Everyone's experience/opinion is different, but we thought the buses were fine. AKL is out away from everything, but since the buses only service AKL and Kidani, it doesn't take more than maybe 5 extra minutes to get around compared to other resorts. AKL is a beautiful resort with several animal viewing areas, great dining options (both CS and TS), and a great pool. I think you and your kids would have a great time at AKL.
