Hello!

We are going to AKL in 2020 for our honeymoon and was trying to figure out which room to book. I’ve stayed in a pool view room before with a king and it was fantastic. However for our honeymoon I was looking to do something special and was thinking of booking a savanna view room.

Looking at the price difference (rack rate for this year) it would roughly be a $1k difference! My fiancé is finding that hard to swallow. I guess I would like kind advice on which we should do or even experiences you had in the past to sway us either way. The other thing about the savanna view category is that they have King beds to book. Pool view it can be either two queens or a king. For us a king bed is pretty important for our honeymoon.

If you guys can maybe help us decide I’d appreciate the help!

We really enjoyed the savanna view when we stayed there but that was because our boys were thrilled seeing the animals so close every day (we did like it too!). But with that said, the pool view is very nice and $1k is a lot of money. Maybe get the pool view and sign up for the Savor the Savanna tour, that's quite a bit cheaper but something special you could do.

Early congratulations !! Enjoy your trip.

I agree with NJ Goofy. I would book pool view and save the $1000. You could add some amazing extras to your trip with that money - a dinner at V&A, the savor the savanna tour, a fireworks party, etc. I would just note your honeymoon on the reservation and request the king bed.

I agree with the pp's. We've stayed both pool and savanna view and while the savanna view was nice, I loved our pool view just as much. It is nice to go out on your balcony and watch the animals, but since there are several animal viewing areas around the resort, having a view from our balcony isn't a necessity for us. AKL is such a beautiful resort to just walk around taking in the surroundings that any room category is nice, IMO. Enjoy the rest of your planning :wizard:.

Thank you! Savor the Savanna tour? Is that the tour with the Jiko dinner?

Thanks for the tip! I will make sure to do that!

SO it turns out its more like a $600 difference but still, Im leaning more towards the pool view because your points make a lot of sense. That money could go towards many other extras that we would maybe consider as well. Thanks everyone for talking some sense into me! :P

But the reality is you won't be paying rack rate because discounts are sure to come out months ahead. So I would definitely do savannah.

Have fun planning! Best of wishes for your wedding :goodvibes.

The savanna room is awesome, I love sitting out there on my balcony and watching the animals. I had no idea the King bed was now a bookable category for this! I'm really excited about that, I never get a king room lol. If the $1k will break the bank though I would save the money. It is a great room, but animals can be viewed from other locations.

i would book the guaranteed king room. AKL is an amazing resort, but the rooms are on the small side and the furniture is clunky.

We had a Savannah View in September - it was nice, but I have to say the Pool View would have been my preferred. The Pool View is absolutely beautiful. The Savannah view was nice and it was fun to see the giraffes and vultures from the room but they are not constantly out and about and within Animal Kingdom itself there are many viewing areas that had better views.

When did Deluxes start having Kings as a bookable category? I thought only Mods had those.

There are a few exceptions like the Cottages at BWI, Savannah View and Standard King at AKL, and a Garden Wing Deluxe room at Contemporary that have Kings. But there are only a handful of each.
