AKL Pool view room?

I know these are in the zebra or giraffe trails, but is there anything specific I should request in the way of rooms?

We were upgraded to a pool view room on our last AKL trip... one of the best view's we've ever had at a Disney resort. We were on a higher floor on the Giraffe Trail, a few rooms down to a set of stairs and an elevator that lead to an exterior door with easy access to the pool and also the bus stops. The closeness to the bus stops definately sold us on this room location... no long hallway walks! Not to mention that if you looked to the left of our view, you could see giraffes off in the distance munchin' on some higher trees!

The only disadvantage we saw to the room location was the walk to The Mara for quick meals and drinks. The shortest walk meant cutting across the pool deck which was by no means a hassel, but not as convienent as some of the rooms on the Zebra Trail, especially during bad weather.

Overall... we were extremely impressed with our pool view room. It was a definately a successful upsell as we'll spend the extra money for pool over standard

Yes it def.is! THe upgrade to a pool view was only $5/day, so we went for it! I think we are going to love it!!! We are at the Poly for a week before we check into AKL for 2 nights and was going to do a moderate, but figured we would try AKL and I am pretty sure we won't be disappointed!

If you are on the same trail as DisneySherpa, then the only downside is the walk to Mara, as stated. The upside is the view, not only of the pool but of the savanna behind it. We were a few doors down, the first room on the fifth floor as you get off the elevator, as we had a spectacular view. I would book a pool view over a savanna view any day. I tried to get a pool view for our upcoming trip in March and was disappointed when I found out we could only get savanna view!

I would ask for a room near the central elevator, or closest to Mara. That way you are near food, buses, and the lobby. It wouldn't hurt to ask for 4th floor either, that way you can see over the trees. Some posters on earlier threads complained that you can't see anything because of the trees, and they are right! To make it simple, request a 4th floor room near Mara and that should get you a great location.

For $5 a day, it's definitely worth it for a view like that! Funny, but we're spending a few days at AKL before a week at the Poly -- just the reverse of your plans. It's our first time at both resorts, but I'm hoping they'll complement each other well. Have a great trip!

We did not have a pool view but really I think any view at AKL is fantastic. We loved opening our doors and looking at the "savannah". We love AKL and would consider staying in any room there.

We are staying at AKL for two nights then a full week at the Poly as well!

I always request Zebra Trail, near the Laundry. This has always put us a short way down Zebra near the elevator there, that goes right down to the Luandry room as well as the Pool and Mara
