Hi again...with my Florida Residents questions!!

Finally I found the page on Disney's site that tells me all the Florida Resident rates..they sure don't make it easy!!! Or maybe it's just me??? ha ha

My reservation is for Nov4-7 at POFQ with a rack rate of $165/nite for a total of $551.91...which I think is way too high for a moderate resort for a FL resident...but it's where we want to stay...so I am gonna keep checking for that FL rate.

In the time being...I can modify my reservation and stay at POR for a total of $381.36 (and hopefully, I can get that for FQ if the rate opens up).

I could modify and stay at CS for the same rate.

OR....we could modify and stay at AKL for the same rate...but with a "standard view" of the parking lot, I assume...or for $100 more a pool view.

Is the deluxe hotel (AKL) worth it? I mean, we are not going to Animal Kingdom during our stay....and we really really like the idea of the boat going to Downtown Disney from POFQ (and Riverside).

I understand AKL is far from everything else. Decisions decisions!!

Thanks all!!! :wave2:

OK...I've never stayed at POFQ but I have stayed at AKL and absolutely loved it. The resort is fabulous and the animals are wonderful. There are many places to view the animals so even if you are in the "parking lot" view rooms, you can still enjoy the views from the many public viewiong areas. Plus, I've heard that they give a lot of upgrades at AKL. If you are getting a good rate, go for it!! I have heard others say that it was far from everything but I didn't really even notice that. I am going in December to stay at POFQ and again in Jan to AKL. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Any other questions or any advice or opinions about POFQ, feel free to email me at sgishelly99@aol.com

I *think* I heard somewhere that only 10% of AKL's rooms are standard. So, unless the resort is booked to capacity, you have a good chance of getting an upgrade. I absolutely LOVED AKL and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

I just got back fro a BWV/POR split stay. I was at POR only Fri and Sat night. I was originally booked for POFQ but I could not get the FL res rate for my dates so I switched to POR AB section. I am glad I did...I pool hopped to POFQ one day I I really think POR is superior. I like their pool better, and also food court and landscaping. My original rate was $165a night, but w/Flres rate I got it for $125 a night.

I do love CS, also.

Ok, I guess I am not being much help, am I? Sorry! You'll have a blst wherever you stay!

I think I'd choose AKL if the rates were good over any moderate. Remember, the mods have exterior corridors, full size beds instead of queens, no valet parking and very limited room service. Also, I don't understand why your rate for POFQ is coming up higher than POR or CSR. The rates should be the same.

Many times standard view rooms at AKL are upgraded to a pool view or a savannah view at no charge. This happens more frequently here at AKL because there are so many more savannah view rooms than standard rooms. The CM's like to spread their magic and if at all possible they will give you the upgrade. Even if you don't get it, the AKL resort is so much more elegant and deluxe than any mod can be. You can see animals out on Arusha Rock -- the public viewing area and there are guides who will talk to you about the animals, their homes, etc. There is storytelling around the firepit in the evenings, night vision goggles to see animals at night, Boma - a fabulous restaurant inside, and the Mara - a food court type counter service that has a few of the same selections as the sit down restaurant offers.

It does not have boat access to anywhere, but the buses always ran promptly and a big plus is that they do not share their buses with other resorts. I did not feel it was remote, unless you are comparing it to the Poly or GF or any of the resorts around Epcot.

As for the POFQ, I will say it is a very nice resort. It is the only mod I've been to, but others will say it is the smallest and has the least amount of hiking to your room. It has boat access to DTD and buses they share with POR to the parks. We liked our stay there, but if we had the choice we would have been at AKL.

Thanks for the replies...every bit does help!

I have the reservation at FQ at the $165/nite...but hoping a FL Resident rate will open up..otherwise I could switch to Riverside...but I think my two little boys would just love FQ better...so we'll see.

I could get the AKL for about the same rate as what I am reserved for at FQ...but I don't think it's where we want to stay this time.

I'm still shopping around...but I do appreciate the advice!!

Disneygirl..your review of AKL sounds so nice!!

The reason my rate for FQ is higher than the others is because the Florida Resident rates for that resort are "sold out"...but available at the other resorts mentioned...isn't that STUPID??? grrrrrr

I think FL residents should get the lower rate all the time!!! They told me I could keep calling to see if someone canceled their room (thus forgoing the rate..if indeed it was a FL resident rate....) whatever!!!
