Hi,

Newbie here - just found these boards and you all have been an incredible help but I'm stuck on one thing - where to stay. Planning a trip in mid June with a 6yo, 3yo and 11 month old. Unfortunately its a short trip - just 4 days so we are thinking of doing MK 2 days and AK 2 days, Where should we stay? I've always dreamed of staying at the Poly and I like the idea of being on the monorail to the MK - especially with a baby. I've read about the daily June rains and heavy crowds so again being on the monorail would be great. I also love the idea of being on the beach at the poly to watch the electric floating parade and MK fireworks. Then there's the AKL - what kid wouldn't love to see animals right from their balcony! But since its busy in June and we are only there 3 nights I'm afraid I wouldn't get my room request at the AKL. ALso depending on a bus for everything with a baby makes me a little nervous. So poly or AKL . . . Any opinions on this decision are much welcomed!
thanks!

I would choose the Poly if I were you. The monorail will be so convenient for you, especially with a stroller. The rooms are also much larger at the Poly.
The AKL is beautiful, but the rooms are much smaller than at the Poly, and you have to take buses to get anywhere which can turn into a major hassle with young kids.
You can always visit the AKL for dinner and your kids can see the animals from the viewing area.

Hi amjl,

I was in the same dilema. AKL or Poly, except that we were going for 9 nights. I wound up splitting our stay between the Poly and AKL. I too have always wanted to stay at the Poly, and my 4 year old and 2 year old love animals. We have a six flags by us with a safari park and our boys just love the animals.

However, since you are doing 4 nights, I would definitely do the Poly. It will be so much more convenient with the monorail, than having to fold up strollers to get onto a bus. We always rent a car because I can't stand doing the buses with the babies.

You can always go over to the AKL for dinner and check out the animal viewing sights and see the animals. I think your guys would love that.

Good luck in your planning.

And please - don't let your head explode. The planning is so much fun. My friends can't believe how much planning and booking I do for our Disney trips.

Go with Polynesian, and a meal at AKL! Your children are small and you won't be able to beat the location of the Polynesian.

Have Fun!:)

Polynesian for one reason..the rooms are MUCH larger and will better accomodate the crib.

I think you would be better off at the Poly, for all the reasons mentioned. You will not be disappointed. The location cannot be beat, especially for a shorter trip. But by all means do go and have a meal at the AKL, your kids will love it. I know mine do. We also live pretty close to Six Flags and my kids love the drive thru safari. Have fun planning.

I agree with the Poly 110% because of the ages of your children (and we LOVE AKL). Even though the transportation is good from AKL, it should be much quicker from the Poly, and you've also got the option of the boats, which are fun. Doing Disney with 3 small children can be challenging, and it will probably be much more convenient to be at the Poly (plus the room size).

Hopefully, there will be the opportunity to stay at AKL when the kids are older. Hope you have a great trip!

Hey momtomootoo

I just noticed where you're from. We live in Jackson right by six flags. my guys love the safari, that's why we picked AKL. We're staying concierge so we can take them on the safari. They will be amazed.

Hey Lizzie, we are almost neighbors..We've stayed at AKL before and loved it. But it looks like the rate for concierge is not so great with the code. Hope for a better AP rate.

Me too. I've done alot of rate checking over the last months and the ap rates were about 40% off rack, during every season. So I'm hoping that will hold true.

These codes were about 20% off for AKL concierge.

Thank you everyone - the poly it is!!! Now I need to finally make the ressies - I am soooo excited!!!!!!!!!
