AKL or CBR??

first family trip to disneyworld and we are trying to decide which resort would be better. is deluxe really worth it?

first off CONGRATULATIONS

if deluxe is worth it really is a personal decision. For us it is, we love to take mid-day breaks at the hotel and enjoy the extra amenities. AKL would be amazing for a first trip. It is a wonderful hotel and you cant beat having the savannah. Even if you dont have a savannah view room there are plenty of places around the hotel to catch the view. We also really enjoy table service vs counter service and deluxe hotels offer more of that.

For me the deluxe is worth it....unless you plan on spending very minimal
time at the resort.
When are you going.....the main pool is closed at CBR till Sept.

There is no comparison between AKL and CBR. Having stayed at both, you would have a much nicer experience if you can swing AKL. As the previous poster said, the view is amazing, the pool is nicer, and you have great restaurants inside of AKL. While at CBR, we got tired of traveling outside of the resort to enjoy activities. At the AKL, you'll be able to enjoy exploring the hotel.
If you go, enjoy a rock in a rocking chair near the fire pit!

I've stayed at both resorts, and loved them both. If money were no option I'd go for AKL in a minute. I really like having interior corridors to the rooms and the close proximity to the food court. We preferr a pool view to a savannah view because it's closer to the food court, pool, etc.

But, if you're trying to spend less money, I don't think you'd be disapointed in CBR. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are large and clean, and the CM's are so friendly there! If you choose CBR, you can always go over to AKL and visit to see the beautiful lobby and view the savannahs.

Are you go-go-go people? If so, and you won't really be spending much time at the resort I'd say go with CBR, save the money and spend it on what matters to you, although I've heard (I have never stayed there) that CBR is a beautiful resort. (side note: the main pool is under construction for awhile)

I'll admit, I'm a bum... I love to sit around the resort and take in the atmosphere. For me it's worth every penny to stay in the deluxe resorts... although now that the kids and I have APs I'm wondering if I can't convince myself to squish in a value resort stay for a weekend
