AKL or CBR or POR - please help - i have a discount but don't know what to do!!

We are currently booked for our honeymoon at POR. There are no rooms available at POR or POFQ that i can use the general public discount code for. I can transfer to Caribbean Beach Resort and save $400 or I can upgrade and transfer over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and still save $60.... What would you guys do??? This is our honeymoon and we liked what everyone says about POR, but to upgrade to a Deluxe and still save $$ would be great!! But saving $400 would be nice too... Just don't know about CBR for our honeymoon... Please help me...

If you like the Africa theme definitely go with AKL! I don't think the rooms are much bigger than the mods but the resort is amazing and much better themed I think. Also AKL doesn't share buses with other resorts so your wait times may be shorter and they have Jikos which is about the only decent food you can get at Disney IMHO (I'm a food snob though).

I have to admit I don't like CBR at all and always wonder what appeals to people about that place?

Definitely go with AKL. You will have room service as an option. Its your honeymoon go deluxe and save over POR.

We stayed at CBR and liked it but are upgrading to AKL for our next trip. Also no hot tub at CBR during your stay while AKL has two and the biggest on site pool.

We ate at Boma in AKL and loved our dinner there. Its on the list for next time too.

Since you have a discount, go for AKL so that you can enjoy your honeymoon in a Deluxe resort. Think of it as staying in a Deluxe at the price of a Moderate. You will LOVE AKL and will definetly remember the trip for the rest of your lives. You can then do a yearly vacation back to AKL to celebrate your wedding anniversary.

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon right before we took off on the Big Red Boat. We didn't know any better back then because CBR is what our TA gave us, but we loved it and still do.

I think it can be very romantic. We rented bikes and riding around the lake together was so much fun. You can walk on the beach and they have hammocks and you can see part of Illuminations from the beach near OPR.

I've never been to AKL so I can't help you there, but just wanted to say that we love CBR. If you like a tropical island theme like I do, go with CBR. If you like an African theme, then go with AKL.

If they are staying during Value season, this may be a moot point as they'd be able to request another room (not to mention they'd be at the parks all day most likely). Honeymoon "activities" don't occur until the evening/early morning. <wink><wink> Zebra trail for the win!

We decided to go with AKL and here's why. I priced a package last night online and NO ROOMS LEFT AT POR or POFQ with the code.... But low and behold AKL was coming up as having rooms avail with the code and to upgrade wouldn't cost a dime according to the quote online!!!! WHAT?!?!?!? COULD THIS BE?!?!?! We are only 19 and 21 years old and could only DREAM of affording a Deluxe resort such as AKL at this point in time.... At this point I'm shaking..... Nerves on edge.... I decide to print the quote and get up at 6:30 am to start trying to get through -- My goal was to be on the phone with a CM at 6:59am. It's now 2am and I can get 5 hours of sleep. I get up, sign on to the DISboard to request pixie dust, and then begin calling. 6:58 and I'm online with CM. I tell him it's our first time and our honeymoon and he says "Lets see what we can do, I'm sure you deserve some extra magic" Finally he tells me what I already know, POR and the code will not work... I timidly ask about AKL and he puts me on hold for about 15 minutes AHHHHHHH..... Then he comes back. "Well the future Mrs. Plyler (my soon to be name) it looks like I can book your honeymoon at the AKL using the discount code and actually still save you $60". OMG i'm dying at this point. Well, actually I screamed and kinda scared him. Thankfully he understood. So, I say all of that to say this - Before and After - here goes:

I was going to suggest AKL before I saw that you had already decided to take the upgrade. it is a lovely resort with so much to do while you are staying there. I liked CBR and I really liked POFQ but neither can compare with AKL IMO. If you can schedule some resort time there are tours available.

You made a wonderful choice. We've stayed at both POR and AK. While both are lovely, AK is definitely more luxurious with great dining options, a fantastic pool and the savannah, which makes the hotel perhaps the most unique and exotic one in North America. Request a king bed. Hope you have a magical honeymoon!!!
