We just got back from a wonderful stay at Boardwalk and one night at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We stayed in a 2 br at the Boardwalk and then spent our last night in a value studio at Animal Kingdom lodge. We always stay at the Boardwalk but we were low on points so we decided to stay at AKL for the last night. anyway, we thought it was a beautiful resort. My question is for those of you who have stayed at both. Do you find that you miss the Boardwalk and being able to walk to Hollywood studios and Epcot when your stay is at the AKL?or is it a nice change every so often? I'm sure both places have their advantages and disadvantages. I'm just curious what your feelings are. Thanksin advance.

I have not stayed at BWV yet, that is our next trip. But we have stayed at AKV and also have stayed at the Swan many times. We love the Epcot resort area. But we bought in at AKV because we loved the model rooms and thought that the resort was beautiful and unique.

Well, we couldn't be happier with our home resort. We think that it has a great feel, is beautifully themed, and is relaxing and unique.

So I would say that the Epcot resorts have a clear plus with the proximity to two parks, but AKV has its own kind of magic. You can't go wrong with either imho.

We enjoy both resorts very much. We enjoy staying at our four different home resorts for each trip to WDW. It provides a variety of different experiences. Each DVC resort has something special and some advantage that the other resorts don't.

like PPs, we enjoy experiencing different resorts.
for us however, we found a few days at a different resort at the beginning (DVC or non) followed by the BWVs is a perfect combination.

the BWVs atmosphere, etc, is our idea of heaven (especially as we almost always have BW view) :cloud9: so ending longer vacations there truly makes us feel relaxed & refreshed. (btw, we tried entire vacations at other resorts, & sorely missed strolling the EPCOT for dinner, watching Illuminations from our balcony, the bakery :lovestruc , street performers, etc, hence the combo).

i think any trip of more than 8 days is a perfect opportunity to try something different ~ you might find a new favorite :)

Own at both (BWV for many years). Yes, nice to be able to walk to two parks and obviously cannot do that at AKV. Biggest thing we miss when at AKV is being able to reserve late dinner times (like close to 9) at Epcot restaurants and then just causually walking back to room at 10:30 to 11 after crowds have left. Nevertheless, I personally like the AKV pool more -- more places to find shade and seclusion -- and Boma's and Jiko's are two of our favorite restaurants.

I don't have BWV as a home resort but have stayed there a couple of times. Love being able to stroll around the boardwalk and so much activity going on it is great. We do have AKV as one of our home resorts but so far have only stayed there one time. It is definitely more removed from all of the WDW stuff going on but isn't that the main reason for having this type of resort. Makes you feel like you are on a totally different kind of vacation when you are there.

I have loved reading this thread and it just goes to show how each of the DVC resorts are different. Not necessarily better than the other but different and this is yet another reason why I love my DVC membership.

If I want to have a floridian feel type vacation...OKW it will be. If I want to feel like a beachy vacation....BCV for that one. I think you can see my point and I know a lot of you agree with me that this is truly the beauty of WDW/DVC.

Hope you enjoy where ever you stay and experience yet another fantastic aspect of the DVC experience!

We love to stay at Beach Club because of its proximity to the parks. AKV is still really close to Animal Kingdom but the draw for AKV is not park proximity. It's atmosphere is totally different than the epcot resort area. which one is better??? I don't know, it really depends on your state of mind!!!
