AKL or Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

i found akl very dark, the lobby was nice but WL is better and its to far from everything i took my car everywhere

I say stay with AKL. Yes some other resorts may be nicer, but everybody should stay at AKL at least once, and this is your chance. Since it's a solo trip, the smaller rooms at AKL won't be a problem.

I wouldn't worry about the buses. Since AKL does not share routes with other resorts, you would probably get to MK faster than you would from e.g. the Yacht Club. While WDW is large, the bus rides aren't really that long. The ride to MK from AKL is about 15 min, probably faster than taking the monorail from the Contemporary!

BTW there is NO bus service from Epcot resorts to Epcot or Studios. Your only options are walk or boat. The boats are nice but can be quite slow as they make several stops, and walking can be a problem too.

I wish I could change my vote. I voted for AKL, but I then I saw that this will be a solo trip. I love AKL. I love the animals and there is a lot to do there. However, I think it is too isolated for a solo trip. If I were to choose again, I would pick the Boardwalk. There are many restaurants on the BW side and it's an easy walk into Epcot.

We love the Yacht Club. One thing I did notice about the bus transportation...it seemed to have a slight edge on the Beach Club. Each morning we got on the bus (early entry days) we had not problems with seats. However, at the BC it was became standing room only and we ended up not even making it to the BW to pick up guests.

We went with our 2 young sons and did not find the YC stuffy at all. We would definitely stay here again. BTW, there was no mildew smell by the gift shop. We had to pass by there many times a day to our room, but that was in November of 2003. You never know, I guess.

We will definitely be staying here again some day.
