We have booked the Animal Kingdom for $120 including taxes per night for 12/25 to 1/2.

At this rate what kind of view room should I expect to get. They did ask if we would like a Queen Bed with bunk beds and I said yes so that both my boys could have their own bed to sleep in.

I'm not one to ask for upgrades nor do I normally care what my view is. At this price I feel I have no right to be picky LOL

What I am concerned about are long walks to the elevator? Will I have to deal with that?

Many thanks for your help.

The price that you have is for a 'Standard' view room.

Of course this translates to the parking lot or the bus stop.... but if you'll be doing the parks the majority of the time, this won't be bad at all.
However......... keep in mind that the majority of the rooms at AKL are Savannah view rooms. So, you just MIGHT get upgraded.

Don't count on it, but you never know!!

Thanks that is about what I expected.

Another dumb question though, is AKL laid out like the BWV - one hotel with large hallway types or spread out like the Poly?

More like BWV, it is one HUGE building, kind of shaped like a horseshoe.
The savannahs are inside and outside parts of the horseshoe.

Good luck!!

We have stayed in a standard view room a couple of times at AKL for overnight visits...no one ever offered to upgrade us, but then again we never asked. Actually both times we were told the room overlooked the "parking lot" which technically it did, but we were on the lobby/ground floor level and there was so much ornamental vegetation outside that I really never felt like we were right next to the parking lot. It felt very private and "african-ny" (I know that's not a word but ...) You might request a room on that level...it was great...no elevators to wait for, very convienent to lobby, food, bus stops, etc. We never heard any noise from the lobby or parking lot, and if we had been in the same room on an upper level we would have been staring straight out into the parking lot.
Also I wouldn't count much on being upgraded since you will be there the busiest week of the year and I imagine the hotel will be near/at capacity most if not all of the week you are there. Don't worry though...it is such a terrific resort...you can always animal watch from the public areas and enjoy the lobby...it is amazing.

We went Labor Day weekend with a standard view Florida resident rate and we got a view of a wall. Balcony was totally walled in all the way around. There are quite a few of these rooms from what I understand. We could only see over standing up. Room was very dark because of this. You are really taking a chance getting a standard. Will never take the chance again at AKL.

We stayed last weekend at Allstar Sports and liked that room better as it was brighter. Didn't seem to be that much smaller as it wasn't as dark I guess. Payed less than half the price of AKL also.
